Hey Dakka!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned/discussed but...

Now I wasn't (initially) a fan of the Stormraven being opened up to all chapters and at first I was annoyed that not only had this happened but also Blood Angels (and Grey Knights and Space Wolves) couldn't get the Stormtalon but then I thought that it stands to reason that those three chapters will probably get their own variation of the Stormtalon like the Dark Angels did with the Ravenwing Dark talon and Nephilim Jetfighter in their (eventually) upcoming codices.

Blood Angels will probably get the Bloodtalon or The Bandage, Space Wolves will get something like The Furry Flyer or Storm Claw and Grey Knights getting The Chapel with The Bomb to End all Bombs which is one use and kills all opposition. Problem is you need to roll six dice and get a 2+ but failing that you hit automatically anyway (I jest, I don't mind the Grey Knights at all really, but seems to be a running theme of hate or irritation on here).

Thoughts on the three chapters lacking the Stormtalon getting their own variations and also, why the Dark Angels didn't get the Stormraven or a variation of it? I guess if you think fluff wise, the Stormraven is a relatively new addition to the arsenal of the marines and Dark Angels tend to horde/use older tech? Real world reason why; probably only thought of opening up the Stormraven after the Dark Angels Codex had already been final approved and couldn't be altered.

Cheers for reading!

Yes it seems every marine army now has a flier except the Space Wolves.
I hope they get that fixed as it has my kid unhappy.
Are the Space Wolves up for a new codex anytime soon?
Wondering if they felt their current codex was too under costed to just give them the Storm Talon and Storm Raven at the same cost as the other codecies.

The Space Wolves are still attempting to staple giant wood-and-feather wings onto some Fenrisian Wolves so that they can field their new Pega-wolf Airborne Cavalry Shock Assault Brotherhood of the Flying Wolves Wolves.

However, they are having problems teaching the wolves how to make the wings flap in order to get airborne.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

The trouble with Wolves is, while they CAN and have been known to use fliers, they don't like to. There's a whole paragraph in the Skyclaws entry about it. What I'd rather see (but will probably be disappointed and proven wrong on) is that they get some kind of super-effective anti-air unit instead.

General opinion I believe is that the Space Wolves Codex is a little while off yet as the standard marine one isn't due out too soon either.

An anti-air unit would be interesting but I think they will get flyers (or both, would make sense for marines considering they're all a diverse force ready to take on all arenas of war?) as not having any wouldn't make them overly flexible and with GW really going for the "best way to deal with flyers is by using flyers!" schtick.

Though be good to see guard with anti-air defence platforms, makes sense.

I reckon wolves will get Flakk Missiles on their Long Fangs or Skyfire on Dreadnoughts to tackle Flyers.

I think The Furry Flyer sounds a bit overpowered.
