A recent internet phenomenon has swept the...internet. A normal day gets interrupted by someone or something doing a dance to the song Harlem Shake. Fifteen seconds it, everyone starts doing it..

So why is it not really funny? It plays into the idea of the humor of the absurdity, what keeps the humor going is that unlike planking, tebowing, coning, or gangnam style is that each Harlem Shake video is a surprise as to what happens after the jump cut. And while it will certainly pass as things of the internet tend to do, the Harlem Shake video us certainly providing humor, and do you really have no spare time that you can't sit for 32 seconds and enjoy people making fools of themselves? Surely we have seen people here on Dakka take longer than that to establish their foolishness. Enjoy it while it's here...

But Gangnam Style was funny on multiple levels. The first being the absurdity of the video. The second being the profoundly douchey attempt at social commentary attempted by PSY,
One could argue a third exists: a performer that is regarded as legitimate in Korea was treated as an illegitimate sideshow in the US, where PSY gave several interviews.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.
