Or should I spend a lot of time learning how to greenstuff so it doesn't matter what I use underneath. Basically I want cloaked figures along the lines of these fine looking 3rd party miniatures:

Is there any way I can get close to that with kitbashing 40k, Fantasy and/or LOTR stuff? Thanks for your help!

What is your mandate to use GW parts? Are you stuck playing in a GW store so need it to be legal for play? Or is it simply preference?

The acolyte of the celestial hurricanum would be a good starting point if you're set on using GW plastics. Be aware though that you won't get something as dynamic as the examples you showed.

Personally, I've had good experiences with mixing those reaper models and gw bitz.

Its a self imposed mandate because I am weird. I like 'kitbashing' is the term I think. The challenge of it interests me. I am not a great painter or player so it's all I've got. lol.

Unfortunately in this case I am having a really tough time finding suitable bits. That acolyte you mention is from Warhammer fantasy right, the Empire I think? I will definitely look into that, for some reason I haven't come across that before.

I'd say most of those can be built relatively easy using wood elves & GS.

Maybe I should bite the bullet and figure out how to use green stuff. What's the best tutorial on how to use the stuff?

Just search youtube for how to sculpt "x" with greenstuff. There are tons of tutorials. Honestly though, I find experience to be the best teacher. Just remember to have patience!
