Hi, all.
I was wondering; has any of you Guard players out there built your own Lord Castellan Creed model? I want to add him to my army, but I really don't like the model that's currently available.
I was thinking of trying to fashion my own, and that got me thinking; who else has done it?
Also, how much of a taboo, if any, is building your own model (using GW models and bits) and using it as a proxy for the "real" model?

people make their own superior stand-ins all the time. There was a thread just like yours that died not two or three days ago asking the same question...
Just grab either a stock guardsmen, or one from the command kit, and find some way of dressing the model up even more. Heck, you could probably just as easilly grab an inquisitor type model and have it stand in as creed, or if you can lay your hands on solar macharius... also acceptable replacement. Model just needs to be obvious about what it's representing

In order of importance, a.) what the TO says, and b.) rule of cool.
If its not a tournament, ignore A.
If you can approximate the character in question and make it obvious who it is, you should have no problems. Rule of cool comes down to the fact that people will almost always give you less hassle over a conversion if it is well done. If you just take a regular sgt and tell people its creed, that kind of rides the line. But if you converted said sgt to have the two hotshot laspistols, and suitably Lordly decoration, usually you'll get a pat on the back for a sweet model.
