Okay, I want to paint my Deathwing reasonably soon but I really want them to look good so I am taking my time and trying to get my head straight before starting. I've watched a bunch of tutorials and read every post I could find on here. Could someone please go over the technique I've listed below and answer a few questions for me?

My planned steps for the termies are thus:

1) Prime white with Citadel spray paint.
2) Base entirely in Ushabti Bone.
3) Wash with either Sepia or Agrax. Plan on doing a reasonably heavy wash.
4) Block back in with Ushabti.
5) Highlight with a mix of Ushabti and Screaming Skull
6) Final extreme highlights with a mix of Screaming Skull and White Scar.

So my questions are:

Is white an okay primer here? Or should I just paint Ushabti straight onto the bare model as I've seen some people do?
With the wash do most people use Agrax or Sepia for bone colour? I have been using Agrax on my Ravenwing with okay results but I am thinking Sepia will probably look better.
Do the termies need extreme highlights? Will a 'close to white' highlight be too much even if it is only on the very extreme edges?
Does this method sound like it would produce a good result? Does anyone have any suggestions that I can incorporate?

The detail work I think I'll be okay on (feathers, belts etc), it's just that nice bone coverage with good shadows that I REALLY want to achieve here. Sorry for the dumb questions but I have to get my head straight before I start or I will make mistakes.

1. Don't paint the Ushabti bone directly onto the model, it needs to be primed.

A white primer will give you overall brighter colours, black will give you dark colours and a grey primer will give you natural tones really.

2. Brown or Sepia is a personal preference really, try both and see what you like. I daresay sepia will produce a more typical bone colour. You could even try both.

3. Final edge highlights are again up to you, you are best off just painting a test model and see if you like it, take photos at all stages of highlighting and see what you like, then just use that for the rest of your army.

4. Its a pretty simple and standard method for painting power armoured models, should work fine.

My overall advice is paint a test model, see what you like, replicate it for the remaining models, be happy.

I've had good luck priming the model white the. Using the sepia washes and then picking ou details from there. However I never end up finishing paint jobs because I get more into the actual converting. Good luck with your deathwing termis though.
