Hey everyone,

I'm working on a desert/sand themed Dark Eldar bandit army. There will be a lot of browns and tans, with lots of black and fiery orange as the accent. For my beast masters, I will use Hellions and try to green stuff tattered robes on them. I will be using Khymerae and Razorwing Flocks and need ideas.

For the Khymerae I want scaly lizards. I was looking at Warhammer Saurus Cavalry, Razordons, or Cold Ones. Unfortunately the cavalry/CO look like they would have extras (saddles, stirrups, etc) and the Razordons are one per pack which would be too expensive. The other option is Chaos Flesh Hounds, which are still fairly pricy. I want something cheap - need about ten - and preferably plastic and maybe something I can get in bitz.

For the Flocks, I believe single large creatures to represent them would be good. I was thinking something like a vulture or vulture creature, but haven't found anything appropriate yet. Another idea using the swarm style would be a large group of insects or crows if there is something that looks good. The same rules apply for these.

Any suggestions for what could work? I'm fine with other companies if necessary.

I'm not so sure if bats live in the desert, but I was seriously considering these when I was looking into razorwing flocks.

You can also get 2 of the bats separately for $0.44. Obviously the whole swarm looks coolest, but I think you could get multiple bases out of one of those blisters, I mean there are only 4 birds in a GW flock.

Thanks! I like the look of those. You're right, not very desert-like, but still pretty nice. My first Flocks used Warhammer Fantasy Bats which looked pretty static and I wasn't too happy with. These guys though look great.

What about the lizads? Any ideas on what looks like a Saurus mount, but without the mount accessories?

For Khymeras I use the following OOP D&D miniatures:
Displacer Beast:

For Razorwing Swarm I recommend Scarab Swarm (Razorwing swarm does not fly!, actally I use a spider swarm for my theme):
