Are Power Fists/Claws permanent? Or are they something that the wearer can take off or put on at will?

They can take take them off and put them back on at will. They're just attached to the armour.

Unless of course you worship chaos, at which point they have a nasty tendency to fuse with your flesh and become permanent fixtures... the Warp is funny like that.

Okay, to rephrase;
In general, for Imperial citizens, powerfists and lightning claws can be removed.
Other sources, such as those mentioned above, tend to have them fused in.
Everyone happy now?

PFs are basically giant gloves. Of course they are removable.

With PKs I have seen some ork models where the PK appears to be permanantly attached to the arm(AOBR Warboss) and others where it could be removed.

Cool beans... Thanks for the answers folks. I'm thinking of magnetizing a character and wasn't sure if fluff wise he could have a power fist in one battle then in another battle he has a power sword/axe/toothbrush.

I've always had the impression that Ork Power Klaws are a graft rather than a wielded weapon. Sure it hampers delicate work, but is that likely to bother an ork? Being able to KRUSH EVRYFING all the time seems more useful.

In the case of a Big Mek with a Power Klaw, I could see it being designed to detach so that it could be replaced with a multitool when off the battlefield.

And I'm pretty sure if an Ork ever grew tired or wanted a bigger claw he can his arm off at the elbow and have another grafted on.

That sounds more like a simple thing for either a Paindoc or Mek to deal with.

I think it varies as some imperials do have built in power fists, colonel straken for instance has a bionic arm and double the normal strength. Now colonel straken may be in a bit of trouble when it comes to love as his catch phrase is "do I have to do everything myself?" Fortunately he doesn't seem to need that kind of pleasure he seems to get most of his kicks from stabbing shooting and being manly.

On that note, is mega-armor removable? Power klaws and mega-armor always confused me on that score.

I daresay the levels of win in this thread are suspiciously high, possibly the result of taint. The Winquisition has been notified.

That would depend on the Mek that built it, and the ork that bought it. I'm sure some examples are removable suits but does it actually make sense to an ork? As long as he can eat, drink and go to the bathroom an ork has little need for luxuries other than a new enemy to pound into dust. Bolting the armor right on the ork is perfectly logical to them.

You'll have to scratch build, but I dug up the rules for you from the ol' IA: Orthodonture:

Power Toothbrush:

Str: +2 AP: - Type: Melee, Minty Fresh

Minty Fresh: This weapon ignores armor saves and causes instant death against models with poor hygiene (MoN, Orks, etc), as well as conferring Hatred (plaque), and Preferred Enemy (gum disease)
