An update of Cyclonus' alien pod:
OK here's an update.

Landing spore closed 2

Landing Spore Interior Base detail

Landing Spore Open

I'm thinking of dropping the interior frame. Still need to add detail on the leaf interiors, finish base details and build the landscape/scenario base.

Let me know what you think.

Wormwood started working on the big alien's legs:
Now for more updates
Here's a leg in progress. It still needs thigh carapace and some refinement, but you gan see where it's headed.

Icesword's trenchers have been cast and this is what he had to say about it:
Nov 08 I started this thread, Feb 10 the trenchers are finally here, almost.

These were Ed's test spins, NOT the final product. The test guns weren't up to scratch so I've made some replicas from plasticard here.

Quick discussions with Ed and were not quite ready for multipart mini's yet, they're just too much of a pain in the @$$ to sculpt, mold then put together in metal. All stuff from now on will be single part (like I wanted in the beginning haha) except for the heads, this will be separate.

Think these trenchers will be available in multipart but I've just started sculpting single piece versions (arms onto torso's) for the long run.

Anyway, quick pics here. Basing needs to dry then it's on with an undercoat. This is my patrol for Ikim's skirmish game, 5 troops, 2 vets and a leader.

Cyclonus also started working on some alien weaponry:
Here's some side stuff I've been working on while waiting for sculpts to cure. Let me know what you think.

Alien Bone Cudgel

Alien Bone Cudgel Closeup

Alien Crushing Claw

Alien Crushing Claw Closeup

Alien Bone Sabre

Alien Bone Sabre Closeup

Alien Bone Mace

Alien Bone Closeup

Also in the works Alien Sinew Cords with hooks

By the way these are monsterous creature size. I plan to make smaller version as well.

Enjoy!

I utterly love the trenchers, and forsee a couple of squads of them. My only gripe is I am not a fan of the guns they just seem idk silly looking.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I'm kind of curious how the guns will end up looking. I might give it a shot at making weapons once I'm back in Holland...

I'm liking the Trenchers, but I'd like to see some gun-braced aiming poses instead of just from-the-hip shooting. Still, nice looking models there.

A little something from Icesword:
Quick sneak peak for the faithful.

Still a lot do to on this guy but it's been fun and I think I've got my technique down for the rest of the trenchers. I did a lot of painting years back but I've fallen out of practice.

The face is a bit too light so I'll be darkening it, lots more highlights required on the brown cloth too.

Also the rifle needs the metal fixed. Ed, this is one of the casts I did, didn't think they were too good but it looks alright painted up.

I think they should be on sale this weekend.

Right now these are molded up and being sold as multipart but once that molds been run into the ground were switching to single piece (with separate heads) purely to make it easier for us and anyone who doesn't like gluing metal.

Also, these were made on the assumption that people would be sticking Cadian arms on them... so they fit in nicely.

Without the backpacks they are most likely to be $2 each in sets of 10+ miniatures.

Wow, these trenchers are great. I don't have any use for the trencher's right now, but I could definitely use one of the Trencher LT/Sgt figs as an officer for my gasmasked guardsmen.

Are the older greatcoat guard sold with separate heads also?

Love the trenchers, although the guns really don't work for me. But there's plenty of other options (from GW's stuff to the various other "secondary market" folks) out there.

Great stuff!

First of all, a short message form Icesword:
I'm painting these all up as we speak but my heads buzzing with new ideas.

Soon as the paintings done I'll be sculpting arms onto torso's for single piece minis but I'm also going to do a sniper, sapper team, and a command squad. Phase two on the Trencher project really, I had intended to leave it for a while but might as well do it all at once. Seeing them painted really gives me the confidence to sculpt more stuff.

Secondly, a small update on wormwood's big alien creature:

Another picture of Cyclonus' alien pod:

One of our newer members, Justice, started doing some work on a new evil dwarf:

EDIT: I noticed I can't get the pic of the evil dwarf to work, you might want to check it out in Justice's thread on the TFM forums over here!

Im am eagerly awaiting the Tervigon, nice sculpt!
Will the alternative Trygon bodies be available as well?

The Trenchers are fine, but too close to the superior Trenchers from Warzone for my taste.

I have concerns about how much space an unfolded pod is going to take up. If it stays as long as it is, unfolding the pod in a game looks like it will be a hindrance to playing. Maybe make it wider and shorter?

Oh yeah, and check out his painted Trenchers:

Some of his mutants material:

Here you can find Icesword's cultist painted up. Sadly this figure will not get released. Icesword however did mention that he is interested in resculpting and improving the design for the cultists...

I do like the Tervigon, but its friking huge (from the size of the hand and the termagant comparison).

It looks bigger then a Forgeworld Heirudule.

That has the negative of being alot in material cost as well as being a fire magnet (would have a hard time hiding behind a carnifex, nevermind warriors).

I could see using it in Apoc though.
