Yeah, the landing I'm not worried about. That's just figuring out where you land and then digging a pit you flood. It's the launch that worries me.

He made a video of himself riding the space program, so yes you can survive, though apparently you travel faster than the game can load the next cell, so as soon as you outpace the game's ability to load the map you hit an invisible wall and fall straight down.

Alternately you can scale the charge back some.

Obviously this will mean many many naked test rides to perfect.

But testing is the best part of any scientific endeavor! Aside from completion anyway.

I think I've finished my small glass house. I'm gonna make some kind of hovering observation deck which may or may not, depending on my mood, become a real base.

I had way too much sand, so I constructed a dock entirely out of sandstone (which takes four sand blocks to create-- I had an entire stack of sandstone, and yet I still had plenty of sand to spare).

Anyone else notice that Sandstone doesn't show up in Cartographer? I made a small arabian village along a desert highway, but cartographer won't show the walls of the buildings because they're made of sandstone

Neither does glowstone.

I build a castle out of sandstone,had to clear a desert for ages,then I filled the ex desert with dirt so I can grow crops and trees.

I also plan on making a sandstone harbour at my spawn point on the beach,a Cathedrael with a portal to Hell under it and maybe if I have time,a nice astronomy tower.

Finally got cartographer to work. The white lines represent the general extent of my construction (its almost all underground, with windows in cliff faces) and the red circles represent mine locations.

Finished my mob farm, and of course forgot to take screenshots of my finishing it, putting in the canals, and everything else.

But I have some shots of it in action.

803 Drops in 3 hours. Not too shabby since all I have to do is stand at the end of the farm and let the rewards just float to me. One thing I did notice though is that spiders because of the way they get into the guillotine tend to toss their string up farther into the kill zone thereby incinerating it and only drop it down about once every 6 to 8 times. Kind of sucks but then again, how much string do I really need?

I think I prefer the grinder myself. I know it is hardly perfect either, but I just don't quit trust lava.

Yeah, got jumped by a spider as I was finishing the farm. Didn't bother getting things replaced just yet. The grinder's good, and I may see about a variation on it for another farm, but all I seem to be losing a lot of is string so... meh.

I made an awsome glass palace incorporated into a huge ass tree in classic once.. Next day I found it destroyed completely.. Damn griefers

You mean plant a tree on a tree. Cause I've been doing that lately and got to 12-13 tall before it hit the ceiling.
Managed to take screenshots of it in progress as well so I'll upload later if people are interesting. I guess I'll upload the pics of the rollercoaster that were wanted at the same time.


Nice mob farm, I'll have to try it soonish.

It was a lot of work because of the way I went about it, ie the stupid way excavating the entire vertical column. Made it about twice the work it should have been. The good thing is the volume of drops I'm harvesting from it. I've got enough sulfur to really start thinking about experimenting with cannons.

I really need to find out more about what makes a mob spawn. What's the maximum distance from you they'll spawn and such. I'd hate to build a big mob farm and find out most of it's not generating mobs because I'm too far from the generating surface for them to spawn.

Also, I think spiders might be a problem as I hear a TON of spider noises all the time when in the room but don't see any spiders coming down. Then a spider or two will come down followed by a lot of other mobs. So I'm going to increase the height of the roof of the tunnel heading to the guillotine so that spiders will hopefully congregate above other mobs heads and let them keep going.

Hourly generation rates of this one for comparison later.

If the mod works then I should see everything but string increase in drop rate. The more I think about it the more I think this kind of mob farm isn't suited to farming spiders. Then again how much string do you really need?

As for the Tree thing I meant building a "trunk" out of wood then building branches. Make little planters in the branches to hold dirt and then plant a tree in them so it grows and starts having leaves. Plant enough trees and it could look like one giant tree. Or just a really malformed one, I dunno.

I did that with a tavern in one of my villages. Built a stone fireplace in a wood building.

The fireplace won.

Haha I am paranoid about building fire places, I've seen them gor wrong...badly. I don't want to destroy my giant wooden tower !
