Having issues connecting. Getting "Cannot Reach Server". Tried early this afternoon and now (about 5 hours later). Is there another setting I need to mess with?

Hmm, cannot reach server implies you can't even connect (never mind a whitelist problem).

First, check you are connecting to web2.dakkadakka.com (not www) as stated in the OP and FAQ.

Next, check the current server status here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/new/list.txt
If it says "Server is OK!" at the bottom, you should be able to connect.

There's the issue. The FAQ linked in your sig still lists www2.dakkadakka.com as the connecting address. I will try that when I get home later.
