Last week I started playing Planetside 2 and the lore of the game seemed to me like an ork's dream vacation spot, all the fighting you could want, all the loot you can steal, and when you die you just get right back up and do it again. thus the idea for a Planetside themed ork army was born. at first I couldn't decide which empire to base them on, the rebellious New Conglomerate, or the moar dakka loving Terran Republic. lucky for me the ork kits are easy to split the difference on. the guns and visors will be New Conglomerate, and the rest of the gear will be based on the Terran Republic. here's the test model:

it may not look like much from this picture, but there's a nice looking chest plate behind his gun that I just can't get good photos of. I'm still trying to get the final look down, so I thought I'd show you some of the inspiration for the design so that if you think that a certain look might be better I can make adjustments:

honestly at this point I may be leaning more towards the NC just because their design seems more orky to me, but I'd like to know what you think.

Awesome Idea, I'm a fan of the game AND of Orks, so I'd love to see how this turns out

NC visual aesthetic is definitely the most suitable for orks. They have bulkier armor and more of a crude but effective mentality.

You're right about the game being orky heaven though. I always thought it was a lot like that one place you died and went to fight forever, not Valhalla but something like that. Or purgatory.

Its a fun game and a good place to rob inspiration from, orks riding flash quads would be hilarious and awesome.

Considering painting my new corporation marines in the TR stock color scheme, just since the corporation and TR share alot of values.

Looking forward to where this ends up.

glad to see that everyone likes this, now I just need to figure out what everything will be.
I'm thinking that the flashes will be warbugies instead of bikes because some of the guns mounted on those things are a bit too much dakka to be a bike. also I'm thinking that sunderers will be trukks as it won't take much to turn a basic trukk into a sunderer.

infantry will be the easy part, basic boyz will be "grunts" of no specific class, boyz with heavy weapons will be heavy assault troopers, stormboyz will be light assault troopers, combat medics will be painboyz, engineers will be meks, MAXs will be mega armored nobz, and infiltrators may be kommandos (not sure about this one)

vehicles are going to be the hard part, I'm not sure what would work as a battlewagon, or most of the other vehicles. anyone have any ideas?
