So after being disappointing by the last 3 chaos releases (counting the daemons ones as a single since they are the same models ) I've been thinking about how I could do some chaos stuff that is a little more interesting then the GW have released.

Right now the idea that has caught my attention is daemons heavily converted (or simply using different models) to make up a daemons army (still undecided on the system, I love fantasy and haven't played 40k since before 6th but I'm leaning towards 40k simply cos it's less models). The main problem with now is that I am entirely unsure what models to use and how to convert them
There is some cool stuff in this thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/509448.page but I doubt my greenstuff skills are up to that standard (I wouldn't mind trying on a single model but not an army).
I was hoping Dakka might have some ideas or be able to point me towards some models that would suit my idea

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

There is a tabletop game out there with an underwater theme. Antimater Game's DeepWars. The cthulhu mythos is as far as i know very tentacly - squidy like.
And the miniatures of this game are very much that. Just brows through their store. There might be somthing in there that tickles your fancy.

RAFM carries a line of Cthulhu based figures (both the big monsters and things like cultists). Most companies like Reaper will have a handful of figures that fit too. EM4 has several in their pulp line. In addition you have various squid based figure like the Deep Wars and the Dark Mariners from Calvacade Games
