I just got a great deal for a used mostly built Land Raider but I would like to put the Forgeworld doors on it. Since I have never built one, my question is with the top part of the front assault ramp. Are the two molded 'hinges' actually connected to anything or are they just for show?

I'm hoping I can just cut the rod to remove the old ramp, then glue the FW assault door on and glue it shut. Is it really as straightforward as I hope?

The rods are connected to a mechanism which allows for the doors to do the neat simultaneous opening trick.

If you're really careful you might be able to chop out the existing door and glue the new one on to the existing pegs. Though it might compromise it's stability.

Trick as in as the ramp goes down the door opens up? I don't mind the gluing it shut.
