Subject: Alpha Legion Operatives (IG) - modelling advice

Hi,
I'm putting together an Alpha Legion force, using a combo of CSM and IG. Nothing new in that of course. I have a question regarding modelling the IG side of things.
The IG force will include a normal platoon, two vet units, some snipers and a squad of stormtroopers. I'm looking for some advice on modelling the different units - how to make them all fit together.
As Alpha Legion operatives, I was thinking of something involving robes, as I'm greenstuffing / "DA vet swapping" some robes onto my AL marines. Possibly for the Vet units.
The normal platoon will be led by Al'Raheem, therefore in mind I was thinking of some kind of tallarn look, which brings it's own problems of extensive greenstuffing / modelling. The other option would be to go with the FW renegade militia stuff, but then tying that into stormtroopers and sniper models might proove tricky.
I really like the look of the FW Tallarn snipers, so I could go with that, but I'm still failing to see how I could combine these with the above and pull all of it together into a coherent looking force.
So, I guess what I'm really looking for is any kind of general advice & suggestions on models for a large AL guard force.

What about going with metal Tallarn for the dog faced grunts & FW Tallarn for the snipers, then use FW renegade bodies/heads (one piece IIRC) as your stormies for that heavier armored look with like chem-inhalers instead of oxygen?
As to look cohesive, that wouldn't be that hard to pull off, I feel. Build the renegades up as normal (or however you plan on lol), cut/file away shoulder pads if you're using cadian arms, sculpt matching shoulder pads like on the Tallarn boys & wrap their ankles. IOW just use a little GS to give them the added details to make them cohesive. From there, it's just a matter of paint.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might pick up a pack of the FW snipers, some cadians and one renegade pack and see how I get on.
The other thing that could potentially work is to use the Elysian models for most - the more dynamic poses lend themselves to a mobile striking force a la the Alpha Legion.

Keep in mind that Elysians while very dynamic don't tend to be very compatible with cadian/catachan parts because they're true-scale. That means that you either have to buy SW & HW squads or do heavy converting. If that's the route you elect to go then I recommend also grabbing some UAMC Marines by Defiance.
They actually mesh well with Elysians, especially the arms though they do have rolled up sleeves.

Thanks again Red_Starrise - I forget the FW models are smaller (I have some Krieg models).
I think if I use Elysians I can cover pretty much all the Vets, normal platoon, speacial weapons, snipers and could possibly use the lascutter teams as Stormtroopers.

You also may wanna look into getting some Warpath Corporation Marines by Mantic. They swap very well with Elysians in terms of parts due to scale & they offer several weapons options that aren't so easily attained for Elysians. Plus by comparison they're incredibly cheap. For my EDT army the conversion fodder was a 10 pack of these boys, a box of UAMC Marines by Defiance, & about 45 actual Elysian models.

Although not Guard related, Anvil Industries just releaed their Black Ops line. Their Steam Lords parts are all compatible with GW and in my opinion are much better in quality/cleaner than anything from FW. As AL is supposed to be convert, it might be a good fit for you.
On their site, they have a variety of sniper type rifles and weapons too.
Check out the Black Ops stuff here.
