G'day all,

I've bought myself a Valkyrie that I intend to convert to a Thunderbolt. I will admit, price was a big driver, I like the Thunderbolt model but I'd like to have 3 of them and can't justify the investment of around $400 to get them, but can much more easily justify $160 worth of Valkyries and a few days of converting.

Anyway, I'm not going to try and get them EXACTLY like the Forge World ones, though they will be "inspired" by FW and I want to get them the right size.

So my question to anyone who actually has a FW Thunderbolt, how big exactly are they? Wingspan and Length? Are the wings similar size to a Valkyrie, or should I just scratch build some new wings?

The Thunderbolt has a wingspan of 11 inches and a length of 10 inches. The wings of the Thunderbolt are fairly straight coming off the hull and dip down a little bit at the wingtip (picture an F4 Phantom flying upside down). The Valkyrie on the other hand changes shape pretty much from the start bending down way more than the Thunderbolt.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I did consider that. The reason I decided to go with the Valkyrie is that it comes with engines and pilots which would be hard to scratch build (I want a transparent canopy) and I figure it'll be a bit easier if I can use some of it's existing panels to make panels for the Thunderbolt. Though a lot of it will be plasticard in the end anyway, it'll give me a bit of a starting point.

I was largely inspired by this conversion...

Though I intend to scratch build my own canopy, nose and Thunderbolt-like engine covers. Also I think I'll bulk out the fuselage a bit more and add another engine outlet in the main fuselage, similar to a FW Thunderbolt.
