I play Tau and Imperial Guard in 40k.

Now don't get me wrong - I love the look of the iconic Hammerhead and Rhino.

But say - just hypothetically - that I wanted to use models from, say, Revell or Testors. Say that I felt that it would be cool to have a StuG IV rolling along with my Imperial Guardsmen.

Do you have any experience with this? Do you have any recommendations on matching the dimensions of Games Workshop's tanks? (Or, if you want to talk HARD MODE, matching with the irregular shape of the Tau vehicles)

Do you have any links to accurate dimensions of the build models that I might be able to use for reference?

It's not like I'm expecting to use this in tournaments. I just think it would be neat (and Hell, a little cheaper!) and a fun little project.

For IG tanks there is an article here on dakka.

And i don't know what you could find for tau pieces. The only think that comes to my mind are maybe some sci-fi models like star wars or something. But i don't have the slightest clue on scale for those.

Good call. Maybe I'll try an X-Wing for a devilfish conversion or a pirahna conversion....

...unless anyone has any papercraft recommendations.

Wow. I mean... just... wow. I had no idea how robust paper versions of plastic models could get. Awesome link. Thanks for it.

Also thanks again; that link has an awesome series of ideas for how to use WWII models.
