Can a techmarine bolster the defence of a bought fortification? The codex says that any ruin can be bolstered but since it is before fortifications went into play I´m not sure.
Whaddaya think?

Covered in the FAQ, from memory, with an answer of "no"

For corrolary the Chaos counterpart cannot affect the terrain cover save of an opponents fortifications either.

I just checked the latest FAQ update (feb -13) and it doesn´t say anything about not being able to do it, just that a Techmarine can increase the effectiveness of cover, reinforcing crumbling walls and re-welding badly damaged spars.

Then if you have bought a piece of terrain he can improve, then looks like you can go for it.

None of the fortifications are ruins, so the ruin specific techmarines can't reinforce fortifications.

The new Dark Angels techmarines who can reinforce non-ruin terrain specifically say they cannot reinforce bought terrain.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Last I checked, you couldn't bolster a terrain piece you purchased.

That's two Codexes here.
You asked about Techmarines, assume Code: Space Marines which only allows ruins (no fortifications are classed as ruins).
Later Codex don't allow fortifications either. So there's simply no Codex that allows it.

techmarines can ONLY bolster ruins,

none of the fortiifcations you can buy are RUINS

that is why you cannot say bolster an aegis, or bastion,

Except DA Techmarines who can bolster a single piece of area terrain (not bought as part of your FOC).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

In terms of the Dark Angel Techmarine - it's a change in the wording that would otherwise have allowed fortifications to be bolstered, so they've had to specify that any bought fortifications are out.
I would expect other Marine Codexes to follow suit with this wording when they're released.

In either wording, the result is the same for bought fortifications - you can't bolster them. The difference is in OTHER terrain - Dark Angel Techmarines can now bolster non-ruin terrain and any fortifications that are on the board (say as part of a scenario), as long as they're not bought in the FOC.

yes i should stipulate, GK techmarins, ans AFAIK C:Sm techmarines get to do on RUIN only,

DA techmarines get to do a peice of (area?) terrain, but not your fortification,

so either way, no reinforcing fortifications you have purchased..

da can reinforce fortificatoins that came with the table if that ever happens..

not that you need it, stealth or GTG and bam 2+ covers all round

DA can fortify a fortification. As long as it is in their starting zone and not part of their FOC.
