If my Harpy gets hit by the heavy bolters on auto fire from a bastion then I do not have to take the grounding test? They aren't a units fire. It says it has to be from a units shooting attack on p. 49 in the brb under grounding tests.

Is a Rhino a unit of 1? Would they cause grounding tests?

Without anything in front of me, I'm forced to assume that automated fire still causes grounding tests.

Rhinos are units that consist of a single model.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

if you get hit by anything, you take a grounding test.

A rhino is most definitely a unit.

An emplacement is not a unit, as it lacks a unit type

So if an implacement is not a unit and it says, "if a flying monsterous creature that is swooping suffers one or more hits from a units shooting attack, it must take a grounded test immediatly after that shooting attack has been resolved.", then why do I have to test for hvy bolters on auto fire? It isn't a unit.

RAW you're right, but good luck finding someone to play under those rules.

Through nonsensical rules lawyering, you can argue that you don't have to test.

You could also argue that any Fortification that does not have Skyfire can target your FMC without needing to snap fire, because Hard to Hit only applies to units.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Sure it is. Building - Fortification. And emplaced weapon is just it's equipped gun, no different from Guy Fleegman with Lasgun.

That's not a unit. It's a piece of terrain.

No, it's a building. It's not listed under "types of terrain" at all.

But honestly I was just being cheeky here.

And while I'd normally agree that a building isn't a unit when placed as part of the standard makeup of the battlefield, I'd consider fortification buildings as "neutral" units. But that's me house-ruling fortifications, I suppose.

Besides, the building doesn't auto-fire unless a unit is inside it, so even though they're not manning the guns manually it's still technically that unit causing the weapons to shoot.
