His arms were made of necrodermis, so is it possible they could be slowly repairing and replacing what little was left of his body? It's incredibly doubtful, but is it even possible? Or was it more of he was "composed of the metal" in the same way humans have iron in their blood?
I am aware he lost his head and it was never recovered, but necrons seem to be capable of repairing themselves or at least phasing away to be repaired as needed. The imperium knows very little about necrons because most are either phased out when unable to function, or are unable to be phased out because of incredibly extreme damage and are not really worth studying.

Where are you getting that his arms were made of necrodermis?

Nevermind, I could of sworn I read his arms were made out of a metal substance unlike any other known, or something to that effect.

I'm not sure if there is a source cleanly saying 'It's Necrodermis' but the evidence implies it fairly strongly.

Ferrus Manus, before discovery by the Emperor, had a great battle with 'The Great Silver Wyrm Asirnoth, a metallic beast impervious to harm.'

The description of the Wyrm, being very powerful, metalic and biomechanical, makes it sound a great deal like some sort of C'tan Shard or some Necron construct. Also, when Ferrus forced it into a lake of magma to kill it, the metal from it's body flowed over his hands to coat them with a metal as strong as ceramite yet as flexible as flesh.

But to answer Amudkipz, no, he is very likely not in some sort of 'repair mode', as no other part of him was in any way necron. This then goes on to mean that Ferrus cannot phase out or repair.

The dude got his head chopped off, he's dead Dave.

This is a signature. It contains words of an important or meaningful nature.

While most primarchs appear to be dumber than your average Ogryn, i would still argue that they need their heads. Since poor Ferrus lost his head, i see little to no chance of him bothering us ever again.

Is it possible his arms "downloaded" him and are simply waiting to find a new body or thing to attach to?

No. That's not even how Necrons themselves work.

Although it is 40k, so a hell of a lot of strange stuff is possible, I seriously doubt his metal arms work that way, by this point you'd be assuming a lot too much about their workings.

Even Necrons can't download themselves into stuff, arms or otherwise.

He's dead dave, Everybody's dead, Everybody's dead Dave.

Fulgrim decapitated him with the sentient sword. I'd say that's pretty final.

I seem to vaguely recall reading somewhere that Ferrus's eyes turned silver upon gaining his metal arms, but could be wrong.

Regardless, while anything is certainly possible in a setting like 40k, I sincerely doubt Ferrus is ever coming back.

Not to mention after his decapitation he imploded into a small warp rift. Ferrus is really, very, dead.

In the Index Astartes it says his body was taken to Mars for ... unknown reasons.

Maybe Ferrus Manus won't be back, but perhaps some shadow of a man, constructed out of arcane fleshweaving and biomechanical fusings with the Iron Hands geneseed.

And a brain. No doubt removed from some homeless guy.

It's detailed in Fulgrim. As Fulgrim decapitates Ferrus there's a release of psychic energy. I don't recall the exact wording but you can look it up.

I wasn't sure if that was due to Ferrus' death, or Fulgrims apparent possession tbh, but it certainly seemed the former. Particularly in light of The Primarchs.

Sadly, cos he seemed a pretty cool bloke, he can't be.

gak... He had his head presented to horus in a box!

That's as dead as it gets.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better...stronger...faster.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I don't think GW is desperate enough right now to pull a " space SOAP opera stunt" like this. But the day may come...

At least theres a chance Dorn is still alive (supposedly), however unlikely it may be. Oh well, as long as they don't kill Vulkan I don't really mind.

I love the implication that it matters who cut his head off. As if having his head cut off by an ork would be less likely to stick...

Nope. Dorn's dead too, the Fists have his body (more than just his hand; they simply use only the hand for scrimshaw). Vulkan looks to be alive though.

I should really have made it clearer, it's not the fact that it was Fulgrim who cut it off, it's what he did with the head that matters (Give it to Horus as a trophy), that's what's important about a Primarch chopping his bonce off.

Nope, he just got hammered by the First Captain wearing terminator armour then had a building fall on him and then an orbital bombardment and then months of living on a lifeless world killed by the life-eater virus.

They can rebuild him, sure (or could have, 10,000 years ago)... but cybernetic resurrection is not a pretty picture. You're stronger, sure... definitely not faster. Stealth goes right out. You can't swim. You need a mechanic, not a doctor, for any combat injuries.... the list goes on!

All the primarchs are dead since GW is never going to use them for anything relevant in the 41st milennium anyway.
