Can a character or independent character that does not have the infiltrate special rule join a unit that does have the rule and infiltrate?

ie; Ork Kommandos infiltrate with a warboss.

No.

All he could do is Outflank with them.

This is because you only join to units by being deployed in coherency with them, and they deploy after you have permission to be deployed.

So they may outflank together? Too bad out flanking stinks now.

Can you outflank in a non-dedicated transport?

Clearly stated in the Infiltrate USR.

ADD causes my posts to ramble from time to time. Please bear with me.

What if both the unit and the IC don't have the infiltrate special rule and you have a power giving infiltrate to an unit (e.g. Master of Deception from the csm codex: Nominate up to D3 Infantry units in your army before deployment. Those units gain the Infiltrate special rule.)

BRB p39 : ''An Independent Character can begin the game already with a unit [...]''. So it is part of the unit before deployment and Master of Deception triggers before deployment.

Sorry for my writing, I'm french and trying the best I can.

No, it isn't part of the unit before deployment. It joins the unit at deployment.

No, because under the infiltrate USR it specificaly says that an IC without infiltrate cant join them during deployement. I would question if this also means he could not outflank with them. (as he would be joining them during deployment)

Outflank only requires one model in the squad to be able to outflank, during the deployment part of the battle you declare Captain Bob is joining the scouts in reserve, as the scouts may outflank, so may Bob.

The infiltrators only get outflank when they are deployed in reserve. Infiltrator rule says that IC without it cant join them during deployment. Ergo he cant join them in reserve and doesnt outflank.
I guess this isnt the spirit of the rule but probably is RAW.
Infiltrate USR last paragraph

Units aren't deployed into reserves. They are placed in reserve instead of deploying.

We discussed this a bit last week here.

After some debate, it does appear that there is no way for an IC without the Infiltrate rule to begin the game joined to a unit of Infiltrators.
