I am putting together rules for Kill teams type games that can be played solo using cards to show how the ship lays out and how many enemy troops are in the rooms entered - What
The way things would run is that the player puts together a 250 point list based off certain choices they have. To play, you draw a card from the tile deck. The card will show the lay out of the tile that is laid on the board as the next piece of terrain. The tile may be placed on the board but must be placed on the boarder of an existing tile. Certain cards will have info showing how many enemy troops are on that tile - this will work as a Fog of War type deal where you dont know where the enemies are until you come across them.
The tiles will have the enemy info on them and then the player will roll against a chart to determine what kind and how many enemoies are there. The player may engage the enemy or may disengage from the room. The enemy remain active and follow a random movement chart provided in the rules, or may be played by an opposing player.
The question at hand is this: I need to not only design the tiles for the cards, but then I need to develop these tiles as actual terrain to play on the board. I need space hulk type parts and pieces, walls, cables, wiring, pipes and floor decking. Does anyone know of a company or a cheap way to produce tiles of this type? I want them to look industrial, liek they belong on a space ship.
Any help would be most appreciated.
My original thought is to use foam core board and score the detail into the tiles that way, glue the foam core to MDF and there you have it. The issue is that I can only do the tiles in relief - I would like grating and man-hole covers etc. any ideas where I can can get industrial looking bits and junk that might fit the bill? Also. how would I replicate the walls of the corridors and the doorways? Any good/cheap manufacturers out there I should know about?
