So I am making my first 40K Daemon Army (and also for fantasy...big surprise there). So I am looking to make modestly modular terrain for both settings and I need some help with what to use for certain parts of it:

First Piece: KoS/DP-Size Throne
-I am thinking of having slave girls on it - but not sure - are there good models out there that are either poseable or have a variety of poses?
-How would I go about making it look as if the throne is made out of stretched skin? I will add bruises and flayed marks to it, but I want it to have hooks holding the flesh over it

Second Piece: Portalglyph
So I know that I am doing the exact blast marker size and what I want to go for is having 1+ deamonettes coming out with hands reaching out trying to hold/grope her. Would it be better to get models and just trim the arms off (like the slave models above) or would a GS/Milliput be better?

General Pieces: Manacles & Chains
I will be doing some blasted ruins but instead of looking normal, I want there to be chains and chains with manacles hanging off the wall/on the ground. For the chain, is it just better to get real chain (the tiny stuff) and use that or GS it? As for the manacles - has anyone seen tiny manacles out there or would it be best to just sculpt out of GS/Milliput?

What else would be good ideas for Slaneesh-like terrain? What have people done? Ideas?

If there is better ways around what I have listed here....let me know, these options are not set in stone...

- There are some hooklike claws in the chaos possessed box. But you could also just use stronger wire and bent it. Drill holes into the flesh(for example a plasticard cutout with greenstuff on top) and use those bent wires to glue it. Maybe you could try to roll out a big area of greenstuff on top of vaseline on a flat survace and wait until the greenstuff is already hardened but sill somewhat flexible and bent it over your throne.

Second piece.

The problem with most hands are that they aren't in a good pose to use as groping hands. Maybe the zombie hands. They are slightly larger than most human scale hands but would probably work very well as demonic hands. Just bent the hands and fingers gently around the demonettes boob. (They only have one nowadays)
This is an exampe pieces and most bits shops will probably sell zombie arms or something similar.

If you decide to sculpt them i advise you to use GS and not milliput. GS is better for organic sculpts due to its stickyness and flexibility. That way it is easier to get round curves on the fingers.

General:
Chains can be sculpted onto flat surfaces like here: http://www.underthecouch.net/tutorials/sculpting-chain/
But actual chains also work fine and you have the ability to let them hang free and not be onto a surface. Just cover them in superglue and they should be able to keep their pose once cured. For shacles you could try to either sculpt them or use plasticard pipes or rods with a drilled hole in it.


As for other pieces Slaanesh is often connected with tentacles. So tentacle forests or pits might be an option. But mystical temples would probably also work. You could add some statues to them from barechested male and female models (for female just look into the slave girl link i added.) to make the more slaaneshi.

Manacles: I've never tried to sculpt manacles myself, but off the top of my head the way I'd probably do it would be to scult manacles around a model or sculpted piece you want chained to the wall or whatever. If you want open manacles with no one attached you could sculpt them around a drinking straw or drink stirrer, I think that would end up close to the intended size.

Grasping hands: If it were me I'd just sculpt the hands onto the model directly. If you can find a hand that fits what you're grasping appropriately then go with that.

Slaanesh's realm is kind of like a debased paradise. Verdant plantlife, flowers, lush grasses, trees, exotic fruits and so on would fit the theme.

Good ol' tentacles are of course a good move. There are several GW options, like Venomthrope tentacles, the tentacles from the Mutalith Vortex Beast, and others. There's also a tool you can get for sculpting tentacles, which is pretty nifty.

Genestealer hands are just about the right shape for groping, and with a bit of work could look a lot less Tyranidy.

Hasslefree miniatures do some good slave girl models, although some are rather ropey in quality.

You'd be best using actual chains rather than sculpting them by hand, as they're quite cheap and easy to get hold of. Plastic tube is your best bet for manacles.

If you can stomach it, then phallic and yonic structures/growths would make sense from a Slaaneshi point of view.

I forgot to mention, I played a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (version 1) game where we got sucked through a portal to a Slanneshi dimension. We ended up in a wide field of what at first appeared to be tall grass or some wheat-like plant. Upon closer inspection they were actually plant-like erect penises trying to grasp us like tentacles. We had to mow through the field with our hand weapons and made our way toward a castle which was visibly and audibly breathing and its corridors were made out of pink, fleshy membranes and the doors were like heart valves or digestive sphincters.
That GM was really twisted.. that game was a lot of fun!
