Well I must admit, it does look less of a sequel and more SR3.5. Not much of a graphics leap if any

I was worried a little when this started out as DLC for Saints Row the Third and then got bumped up to full number 4 status.

Sadly it does look like a expanded DLC, and the story line definitely smells like one. Also concerned about the final instalment line, unless they are referring to the console generation.

Would be a shame to go out like this.

Saints row was such a good game in the past. *weeps in the corner*

Maybe I can give it a shot, but that's it. Just a rental. No pre-order.

Must admit, looks like crap. Was hoping they'd go back to the Saints row 2 formula, instead we get this wacky piece of garbage.

That looks like a logical progression from SR3. I'm looking forward to it. Hope it's on Steam.

Umm... yeah, I'll cautiously keep an eye on this, I guess. There is such a thing as being too over the top, even for a Saints Row game. But let's see. I already thought I wouldn't like SR3, yet the fun factor basically suspended my usual preference for a modicum of realism.

Huh, so that's where I remember the plot from.

Dosent look like any change from saints row 3 TBH, not that I care particularly. I only got SR3 for the character creation.

Here's hoping it will be a little more like it was in SR2 rather than the scaled-down 3 version...

I never played SRII, but from what I have heard my opinion of SRIII would be allot worse if I had. Hell, the only reason I own allot of games is for the character creation aspect. I have yet to find one that outclasses Soul Calibur 5.

It's the layering. A clothing system gets a thousand times better when you can layer items on top of each other. That is what SR2 had and what we lost in the move to 3.

If you hoped over to the saints row forums, this trailer is not going over well. That place is like a lion pit. Saints row doesn't really have fans anymore, just people who hate it. It's a really bad place for a game.

I'm not excited, I thought SR3 was something of a letdown after the phenomenal second game. This looks like a 3.5 or that last bit of DLC we were promised, but instead got bombarded to full game status.

Yes, but why would you want to do that? That's like going on to the EA forums and hoping ofr intelligent conversation.

Saint's Row was like the promising high school student who dropped out and started smoking crack all day. Saint's Row 3 was really, really awful. It just made no sense at all. SR4 looks the same, I hope it flops.

Saint's Row 3 was one of the best sandbox style 3PS games ever made. Certainly hella better than any of the modern GTA games.

I had a blast playing it. But then again, I'm okay with a bit of silliness. It's certainly better than the boring brown and grey "realism" of most games these days.

Hence why Saint's Row 2 was glorious. Saint's Row 3 just took it way too over the top though.

The big appeal of silliness, for me, is it taking place in an ordered world. There's no point doing crazy, hectic things if the world around you is crazy and hectic and makes no sense at all. There has to be some semblance of the reality that's being twisted basically, not just a random string of inter-connected, deliberately over-the-top scenes.

It didn't seem random to me, but then again, I have far, FAR less of a desire for "realism" than most people apparently.

Well it is apparently more sci-fi than modern, so maybe they will.

Oooh, that gives me an idea. Combine Mass Effect (post-ME3 perhaps?) setting and gameplay with Saint's Row 3 style sandbox.

It use to be a nice place. Before 3 that is. After that, most people just drifted away because of how disappointing it was. The only people left are the ones so angry that they stayed around to flame. See 3 failed at the every level. It wasn't just because it was silly. If it was good, then it could completely survive the fart grenade. Actually I found some of the silly to be fun or charming. It just field so hard at so much. It's such a complete and totally mess up I have a hard time even expressing it.

It succeeded on the only level that mattered.

It was buckets of fun.

Then again, I try to play games without bias or prejudice from previous games.

It cuts both ways. Voltion was able to levy my love of saints row 2 to exploit $60 from me, so I think it's right to judge them on their failure to live up to what was expected. I mean they knew what they where making wasn't what people wanted. They had to know because they made a lot of effort to conceal it. They even out right lied at a few points. If they where up front, I would never have bought it and would not have ended up so bitter.

Actually I'm fairly certain that they knew that they were making what "people" wanted. It may not have been what YOU wanted, but you really shouldn't speak for everyone, just yourself.

I mean, the game was really freaking successful. Successful enough that other companies wanted to buy the developers when THQ went down, and fund the next Saint's Row game. It had tons of DLC that helped improve its profitability and added a lot of really fun content to the game, but were otherwise entirely optional-- none of them were actually vital parts of the game, they were just fun side stories to add to the many, many fun side stories in there. DLC how it SHOULD be-- if you're going to charge for DLC instead of give it away fro free (like Mass Effect 3 did), this is how it should be done.

Yeah, it wasn't just an SR2 clone. Well... boo hoo? I mean there are some valid complaints to be had about SR3, but you have to understand, you can't please the entire fanbase anyway. Not everyone wants the exact same thing.

3 was the most pre-ordered game THQ ever put out. It didn't really sell too well after it was actually released. It made most of it's sales off of the goodwill generated by 2. That good will has mostly been spent. I don't know if they picked up enough new fans to replace all the ones they made mad. Seems like for every person liked SRTT there are 3 more who are angry. They don't so much have fans as much as they do haters. You look at the forums and the whole thing is filled with people who are not even complaining anymore. They are just flaming. That's not even counting the number of people that just proofed away. They couldn't even stick around to complain.

I would not want to be volition right now.
