Well you definitely dont want to go into a war with just a grenade launcher. Would highly suggest getting some heavy weapons and maybe other special weapons in those squads. Even if thats splitting up the HWTs between them plus gl's aren't terriffic. Also those leman russes are quite expensive. Sponsons dont work so well with the battle tank variant since you'll be snapfiring a lot, so could drop them to get more heavy weapons for your infantry squads.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

Hmm i might consider dispersing the heavy weapon teams, I can understand your point there, Ill porbably split up the HWS

Out of curiosity, why did you go for 5pts grenade launcher and 5pts Vox instead of 10pts melta?

Two things, one the avaidability of meltas. You only get one melta with command squad box and none with the infantry squad, I know that you can convert flamers and lasguns into meltas, but I'm not that good of a modeller. Secondly In my first few games with guard I failed my order roll only to pass it on the re-roll. This re-roll also gives me stability to my battle plans knowing that there is only a very small chance that the order will fail.

Also if you didnt realise these infantry squads will be made into 'blob squads' of at least twenty

I guess thats reasonable, and yeah its unfortunate how the meltaguns are sparse. But if you do want to stick with the voxes and are combining the squads, you only need one per combined squad rather than 2 or 3.
