I have a question,

1. We have a gaming group that we started in my local area. Most of us are all completely new so we all kinda do 2v2 games. Those that aren't currently playing since we only have one board currently look through books and check rules and make sure were doing it right. A few of our players have played during 5th edition and we do get confused some times. Between the rule books and codex's plus the faqs for all of them it gets hard to pinpoint things sometimes. One of our players says that if the model can't physically be placed there then you can't move there. I understand what he's saying but it doesn't make since after reading through the 6th edition rulebook. Since its says under wobbly model syndrum you just count it as being there and place it to the side, but you will have to hold it in place to check line of sight. I can't tell if what he's saying is something he's remebered from 5th or if its a tournament rule or something like that. I can't find a specific ruleing on that anywhere. Does anyone know if this is still valid or if it isn't what I need to show to explain that it isn't. The main reason I ask is it has lead to some strange things in game that doen't seem to make since.

Eample

Most of our terrain is area terrain so far which consists of different shaped rock formations and stuff. One of our players plays grey knights and another plays necrons. The necron player had a ctan in the area terrain and the grey knight player was trying to assualt with his Dreadknight but according to the necron player since he couldn't physicaly place the model (becuase of the rocks were at different hights and the model would have tiped over) he couldn't assualt. Other similar problems like that have happened and it doesn't really make since to me.

It sounds like you have some awkwardly modeled terrain. Suppose you have a piece of terrain you had decided was "difficult terrain". You cannot treat it as "difficult terrain" for one model but "impassable terrain" for another model just because the way the terrain was modeled.

In your example I think the Necron player is very wrong about the reason for saying the dreadknight could not assault.

Some rules you'll want to look up and familiarise yourself with:

Wobbly Model Syndrome (page 11)
Types of Terrain (page 90)

And, for the C'tan case in particular, pages 21 and 22 - here we can see that to successfully charge, you need to (among other things) reach base-to-base contact. However, if a model would be able to make it into base contact but the terrain makes placing it awkward, that comes under Wobbly Model Syndrome again.

In general, just stick with it and don't be afraid to roll off just to continue the game. It's a lot easier to look things up, discuss them fairly and think it through afterwards than it is in the middle of a game.

Great I thought that was the right call to make but I wanted to check with a fresh set of eyes before I brought it up the next time it comes up.
