Just something I found that may be of interest. My apologies if its already been posted. http://www.gamerevolution.com/news/new-warhammer-40k-game-in-development-18099 The Warhammer 40K universe may be mostly in the hands of The Black Library and Games Workshop, but after THQ dissolved, many a Warhammer 40K fan was left wondering what would happen to any future video games. Thankfully, the future for Warhammer 40K video games isn't as dim as THQ's. Slitherine announced today that they have partnered with Games Workshop to develop a new turn-based strategy game for the Warhammer 40K universe. Slitherine has not said anything else about the upcoming game, other than it will be avalalbe for "multiple platforms" and will release "from beyond 2013." If I was a betting person, I'd say that's for next-gen consoles in 2014. It may not be a new Space Marine-like game, but at this point, I'll take what I can get from this universe.
About time. I've been waiting for a TBS Warhammer game.

The question is are we looking at something like Dawn or War, Chaos Gate, or Final Liberation?

The answer (hopefully) is Rites of War.
Dawn of War is right out- it is not turn based.
Chaos Gate is a possibility, but it is awfully small scale.
Can't say I ever played Final Liberation, but the description sounds like a distinct possibility.

I would love an updated Chaos Gate. Up the scale a little bit and I'd be all over that.

Up the scale and maybe add in some more customisation options for armour variants and different chapters.

It'll probably be something like Legion, seeing as its from Slitherine. So maybe Final Liberation-ish?
An up to date version of Chaos Gate would be great though.

That would be a welcome addition for sure. Though in this day and age they would all be a DLC.

That's what I'm dreading, especially when I see any title published by EA

I can't seem to find a straight answer over whether Slitherine has the exclusive rights to make 40K games after THQ went bust. While I'm looking forward to see what comes out of the TBS game, I also hope we could see another 40K game from the very capable Relic. Really hope we haven't seen the last of Dawn of War; I want to see Taldeer come back as a Wraithseer now that Rohnan got back her soul stone (bet that would make things real awkward with LIIVI).

If it's really that, I would expect something like "Squad Command". Which actually was a rather decent game. Pretty much Chaos Gate for the DS, just with the addition of vehicles. Still, I would hope for something bigger, and something PC. Slitherine seems to produce mostly large-scale strategy games, so perhaps we may get something like Rites of War. The header on their website shows an Ork, so I'd wager they are one of the factions, if not the main opponent. An Armageddon game, maybe? It's an important battle in the fluff, and it would offer quite a lot of potential, and a lot of cool armies to play.
I only played one game by Slitherine so far, but Legion Arena was not too bad. A sort of "Rome Total War" for poor people, I guess, but with a few cool new ideas of its own.
Thinking about it, a second squad-based game would be a bit redundant, anyways, no? They already have announced the Space Hulk remake, after all.

Didn't Chaos Gate have vehicles? I'm pretty sure I remember Dreadnoughts and Predators (old type with the round RT/2nd Edt turret)
