Hay forum i have a question for you.

"How surprised would you be if the primarchs (that are still alive and not dead or under a massive rock *coughs* Lion El JOhnson).

I personally would be surprised if Russ and Magnus came back then decided to blow each other up, again.

However i would not be that surprised if some of the primarchs came back and got included in army codexes so we spend a stupid amount trying to buy them.

What do you think forum, how surprised would you be.

Not really surprised.

What would surprise me is GW moving the fluff forward(which is what bringing them back would require)

But I doubt they would ever be in the codices. If and when GW updates Appocalypse(or Forge World takes it over) they would probably be appoc units.

That might be FWs next project after the Horus Heresy is done. I mean, they're already doing them as they were during the Heresy. Its just a skip away from 41st millenium Primarchs.

Very surprised. GW's policy is to never advance the story of 40k because then things might change and sales might drop. Instead, it's much better to keep everything static where every army is "about to win" and not take any unnecessary risks.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I don't see them advancing the story enough to warrant the reintroduction of one or more Primarchs.

Do you always address inanimate objects as if they were people?

keeping a static storyline is not always a bad thing. When TSR was trying to make more "dynamic" RPG settings in Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance, players complained that it would require more purchases instead of allowing the players and DMs to advance it themselves. Now we have 40k players complaining that the timeline is too static and the game doesn't provide enough expansion.

Time to make up your minds.

Move it forward. It's not as if moving into Warhammer 50,000 invalidates people from playing 40k.

Well they certaintly shouldn't move it forward 10,000 years.

A couple hundred maybe, but no more than that.

Not overnight, but they should be moving it several hundred years forward with each edition at least.

It would provide a good explanation for the alterations in units and weaponry other than attempting to balance the perfect imbalance or whatever nonsense they are adhering to these days.

GW advancing the story line, yeah.

It's better than them retconning the fluff constantly in order to create new ideas.

I have to applaud them on creating an excellent setting, but they've really pulled a Lucas and not used it well at all.

Just imagined that Indiana Jones / George Lucas scene from South Park with Kirby and wargamers. Fits.

Nobody can stop Matt Ward on his endless journey of bending over SoB in every fluff!

Yea....you might want to rephrase that to something that sounds less sexual x_x

I'm pretty sure both of us intentionally phrased our sentences as such.

That phrase is never meant to be taken non-sexually.

The thing with 40k is... it's a setting, not a story.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Yes. I'm an animist. :p

As for the topic, I think I'd probably fake-faint if the Primarchs coming back was confirmed.

I mean, other than the Daemon Primarchs. I'm just waiting for Forge World to provide us with models for them. It's inevitable really.

Yes it will. When 50k comes out with an expansion pack(s) like Horus Heresy, the sky will begin to fall, cats and dogs will live together, total anarchy will reign when the book is not free.

Frankly, I don't care to see it jump forward unless it would happen as one huge redo of all codexes and an edition change.

The sky doesn't technically exist, I have seen many cats and dogs live happily together, and total anarchy is bad mmk.
