Yeah, so should my SM Predators have twin link Las cannons on turret or autocannons? How about side sponsons?

the math hammer has been worked out ad nauseum, and basically Lascannons win out for AV 13, AV 14, AV 10 open topped or T6. Otherwise, take autocannons. Against flyers, always autocannons.

Also, I think it depends what you need them to do and how your using them. Are you camping or assaulting? That makes a huge difference in my opinion. Do you have any other LCs or is this your long range AT?

IMO, if your camping and want a versital platform, LC sponsons and the AC turret will do the job. For 120pts, it is hard to beat 2 AC shots and 2 LC shots a turn.

If you want your Preds to be moving up with your LRs/Rhinos, your wasting the points on sponsons for snap fire shots (well, you choose the one primary weapon I suppose). At that point I would look at what your running with. If it is with normal LRs that have the LCs covered, the AC (and maybe HB sponsons) for light vehicles and anti-infantry work might be best bang for your buck. If your Preds are leading Rhinos/Crusader LRs, TL LC and nothing else is probably the best choice.

If your depending on them for your LC fire and your camping, 165pts for 3 LC shots versus 230pts for a 4 LC shot Dev squad that might be more survivable if in cover... it starts becoming a hard choice. You have to figure if that 1 TLed shot and the 55pts less outweigh the single BS 5 shot and the extra shot. I feel the Dev squad has better survivability because with Marines, you have to practically wipe out the squad to stop it and Cover gives you a decent chance against low AP shots. That is not to say the Pred is a push over, or that concentrated fire on either will not destroy both. That is why you take 2 of the same bullet magnet IMO.

45 points for the TLLC is just too much. Especially since the autocannon is a such a good, flexible gun. 50 points will get you a MM attack bike. They changed the pricing for DA, so this might change for the rest of us eventually.

My pred of choice is the auto/las. 120 points of mech killing power. It should pop any transport it looks at, and can threaten AV14 from across the table. Not melta threaten, but it can work.

If you feel that you need more anti horde firepower, or ultra light vehicles or tough beasts are bothering you, the auto/HB Dakka pred is a good bargain.

Depends on which codex you are running and what purpose...

CSM and DA the TL Las "only" costs you 25 points and the Las sponsons 40...

So the choice there is dakka pred - 105 or Laspred for 140.

If you want to have a TL Las to fire, take two razorbacks instead. For 150 you can have two firing.

If you really really want/need a hardcore ranged anti AV12+ in your list then dropping the 165pts (C:SM) for the Tri Las Pred is a good option.

If you really want/need dakka with armor value in your list then 80pts (C:SM) for a AC/HB sponson dread is your best bet.

If you just need a great all around tank for a reasonable cost that can threaten anything the enemy can field, then the AC/LC sponson Pred for 120 (C:SM) is hard to beat.

My main opponents are csm and gk so I tend to rock a ac turret with lc sponsons. I just cant afford to not have a viable anti infantry weapon on this platform, for 120pts. If needed I will attach a tllc razor back to my vanguard vets or command squad.
Also, my game style and army make up is usually pretty balanced, imo; even if gk opponent maxes out on psycannons..... Astral aim is a killer

Gotta say Lass cannons!

But really, go Dakka! ACs and HBs sponsons.
