Perhaps you want to go tete a tete with Tyrion Lannister in Cyvasse? (Over an Arbor gold, naturally)
Perhaps you want to get the high score with the Last Starfighter Arcade cabinet?
Perhaps a quick game of Dejarik? (careful, Chewbacca's a bad loser)

I have been re-reading 'Consider Phlebas' by Iain M Banks and it features the rather crazy sounding 'Damage', not only does it have the coolest name ever it also represents the Hedonistic pinnacle of gaming (funny considering the book was written in '84). Now although i wouldn't want to play Damage myself, Damage is defo my favourite Fictional game (imo preferable to the rather bizarre Azad detailed in Player of Games). Mainly for the evocative way it is written and the reason given above.

Also, which 'real' fictional Games are best?
For example Triple Triad or Pazaak? A game i thought was strangely good was that weird card game off the game Rage.

Pazaak is maddening, but fun.

Kinda. The cards have the actual values printed, plus there are cards that are either positive or negative.

I remember playing it in Kotor, that's how I got all of my monies because it never even crossed my mind to sell anything. By the end of the game it would take me like a minute to scroll through my inventory.....

On the plus side I had like 300 blaster rifles.

My issue was tons of money, nothing decent to spend it on. Nothing I could use anyway

Bah, Stealing Life is all you need. Most OP power in the game, next to level 3 Lightning.

Force Wave was better then Lightning, Stealing life made the the Malak fight easier, though the first time I beat the game I did so not knowing you could drain the jedi with leech life. That fight took bloody forever, but I did look snazzy in my Mandalorian Assault Armour.

I wouldn't mind a game of Thud!

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

There are actually quite a few American colleges that have quidditch leagues.

I would prefer a game of wizard's chess.

Their Quidditch isn't really quidditch. They're just people playing a mix of rugby and ultimate frisbee while holding a broom between their legs. If quidditch involved real flying I'ld be all over that.

And Wizards chess can be recreated on the computer, it's just animated chess after all.

The wierd, arty-type high school my sister goes to forgoes regular high school sports in favor of a quidditch league.

And I'd be down for a game of Wizard's Chess.

I'll second Regicide... but I'm pretty sure it's just chess...

I'd also like to participate in any given anime where giant robots or various fighting machines are handed out to individuals as sporting equipment. I can't express in words how awesome piloting a giant robot for recreation would be.

The thing with Quidditch is that there are essentially two games going on. The scoring one and the attempt to catch the snitch.

Given that catching the snitch grants automatic victory regardless of score I’d just put all my players into catching it and forget trying to score, even defend my own goal. I reckon that would probably pay off more often than not.

"And if we've learnt anything over the past 1000 mile retreat it's that Russian agriculture is in dire need of mechanisation!"

But only one player is allowed to catch the snitch. The automatic victory thing is why I don't like Quidditch.

It's not auto-win per se, it's just 150 points, whereas each goal is worth 10. Unless the real-life version fethed up.

It's not always auto win as it stops the game and gives that team 150 points so if the rest of your team put up enough points in time you still win, hard to do but possible
