I'm surprised DnD allowed them to use such anime-esque artstyles in the opening title card. I don't disapprove mind you, it's just that DnD elves tend to be very non-human in appearance. Sometimes to the point where I wonder why DnD says they're supposed to be attractive to all races but I digress.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

You know that game was made like 20 years ago and is just being re-released, right? Aesthetics have changed over that time.

Actually, given 3.5e and 4e, the aesthetics haven't changed TOO much for DnD pen and paper.
Unless you're saying they changed from anime-esque to what they are now?

I wasn't disagreeing with the anime part; Making a broad statement about D&D elves is what I was objecting to:

For example, the first of those two games came out in 1993.
The cartoony art of the 90s is very different from the art nowadays:
And then Elves have changed significantly over the years depending on the dominant artist from the era. You can't just say 'D&D elves are X'....

I prefer sidescrolling platformers myself. But it's good to see 2d games be given good press like this. We need more 2d games.

Eh, looks okay. I'm not a big duck tales fan, but the actual gameplay seems nice.

Mystara was the first DnD setting I was introduced to...about 19 years ago.
Picked up a supplement called the "Hollow World" that featured Msytara being a world with an inner crust that faded and forgotten civilizations still existed.
And there were no Gods but equivalents called Immortals.
This game is awesomely fun, especially if you use an emulator on a PC with multiple gamepads/joysticks and 3-4 friends. Unlimited quarters and hilarious, non-stop beat em up action. I have fond memories of pumping many quarters into this arcade machine back in the day.
Would definitely buy it if it had online matching.
Edit: console only, blearg!

Well, that sucks.
Never gonna play it now :/ my console isn't hooked up to the internet.

See as fun as that looks ( even if a bit of a partially re-skinned X-men and TMNT in my eyes) I'd rather have a remastered re-release of the classic Megadrive title AD&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun.
Now that I would be dancing for.
