1/48 is the most common scale for Choppers that fit scale wise

I used a 1/48th scale Hokum attack heli as a ork kopter, the ork pilot fitted fairly well in the cockpit, and the model itself was large but not overly so, a 1/32nd heli is over a foot long, so 1/48th is likely the best choice.

That's interesting. Looking at my 1:45 Mustang, it'd be way too small. Then again, it's not a huge plane anyway. I use a lot of 1:35 scale accessories, but a Black Hawk at that scale for example was about 2' long like you say. Monstrous.

Yeah, 1:48-ish can work for some kits, 1:35 works better for others. And either will still need replacement weapons, as even 1:35 weapons are small by 40k standards.

1/48 scale Apache's (AH-64) were perfect in RT (where we used them as actual fliers).

Bear in mind that 40k has a nominal scale it doesn't even attempt to stick to and any regular model kit is going to stick out like dog's bollocks anyway.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Not to hijack, but since we're discussing scales, I found some 'tru' scale conversion kits for 40k fliers. I'm interested to see what that would look like.

Depends on the chopper you're using really.

Helicopters and planes in real life are HUGE, much bigger than a tank or truck. GW fliers are downsized to fit on the table.

For a while I had a 1/48 Osprey I used as a gunship and that worked well, it was about the size of a vendetta.
