So I'm a new player and have only played 2 games so far but lost twice versus my friend who has trolls (different lists each time, but I wanna try to stay close to wolves only if possible

he likes to run and earthborn dire troll and a unit of champs (and I think some scribe guys sometimes) so any idea to hurt them? he had a spell that could place walls so I took a pureblood with my feral so I charge through it, and the pureblood's howl is AMAZING (he always clumped his units in a circle with the warlock in the middle)

I have half a mind to kill you, and the other half agrees

what are you using? which caster?

if you've played two games only, there are chance you're playing with battlebox, so pKaya.

if this is the case, here are some random points:

- Remember to apply Kaya +2 bonus to all living warbeasts melee attacks.

- Spirit Fang spell grants -2 to SPD, so no charge.
(problem is keeping Kaya safe in 10 range. you can Spirit Door her back, if you have a properly placed beast, or get a Gallows Grove).

- While Argus is not the best light available, its Animus provides Pathfinder, it could be handy.

Two games does not make a habit. Just make sure you know the rules well and know your options. There are many little things in Warmachine to use for yourself and against your opponent. Like Gabbi said, SPD penalties deny ability to charge. Know the specifics of terrain interaction and stuff like that. Power attacks are rather situational, but highly effective.

Kill the Solo that's making those walls. She's Really good and has a few other amazing tricks that will cost you games in addition to that wall. Sprays that ignore the wall are a good way.

Picking up a Gorax to get access to that +2 hit and damage Animus is a good way to help deal with all that Trollblood armor.

Get used to see those Stone Scribes. They're in almost every single Trollblood list. Kind of like Choir in Menoth.

Other than that Earthborn, Trolls don't like Rough Terrain. Champions are already slow and if you can stick some forests in their way it'll really ruin their day.

yeah sorry I am using pkaya, and I did not know that spd penalties made no charging

and I always forgot the kaya beast bonus lol >.<

and I'm thinking of adding wrong eye and snapjaw (maybe with bull snapper) do you think thats worth it or save it for 35pts or more?

If you are using pKaya, bring a Scarsfell Griffon. Spirit Door + Long Leash is quite efficient.

-dont be afraid of slams/knockdown, if he's bricking up, any model knocked down doesn't block line of sight anymore, my troll buddy used to run the brick, a few games of angled slams knocking down the blockers then dropping ravagore shots in the backfield ended that gameplay

-spirit door is nasty, especially against slow trolls, with favorable terrain or something that can channel you can easily charge in, swing like crazy, then activate your caster and spirit door your beasts out of there to go again next turn.

me too, in early games, that's why I pointed it out ^^
it's a nice bonus, pretty nasty along with Gorax animus and maybe Feral +2STR mutation

and I'm thinking of adding wrong eye and snapjaw (maybe with bull snapper) do you think thats worth it or save it for 35pts or more?

uhm, I believe Wrong Eye cannot take any beast other than Snapjaw...

to expand your force I would suggest Gorax as first purchase (then, Stones+UA, Druids, Tharn girls with sticks... sure you know the list )
as an unusual suggestion, and only if you want to stick with pKaya for some more time, the Scarsfell Griffon is a nice one to have. pretty mobile, long leash keeps it in control up to 24". If I have the points, I take it instead of a Totem Hunter. it fits same role (hunting down any pesky solo that tries to ruin my day), and for some points more it's way more versatile, soak way more wounds, can perform more attacks and I can always spirit door it out of trouble from quite far away (or move it out of trouble and spirit door Kaya next to it, if I need to). I don't see it played a lot (maybe because it's nice to have just with pKaya and she's not the gal getting the most dates along Orboros), but for the cost of the model you could give it a try.

[EDIT]
@Arkon: so I'm not the only one!

well im going to use vassal before I make alot of purchases, so right now models mean nothing

and I'm likeing the idea of 2 purebloods, they walk up howl and spirit door back and I was looking at the griffin and I might try him but I dont really like the look of him

and forward kommander says wrongeye he can and the minion book doesnt say anything that he cant

and what about this as a list:

Kaya the Wildborne
Gorax
Pureblood Warpwolf
Warpwolf Stalker
Tharn Bloodtrackers (Leader and 9 Grunts)

I tried the wolf riders and liked them but wanted more bodies, thoughts? I was thinking the bloodtrackers flank around back, gorax rages into the champs (probably after some hits from the pureblood's spray) and then the stalker steals ghostly and charges through the wall and jumps back with spirit door

I have half a mind to kill you, and the other half agrees

Wrongeye can run Blindwatter beasts (gators, ranged turtle, swamp horror, and boneswarm) but he can only leach 3 furry so more than one extra beast is a big risk.

If you take bloodtrackers then you really should consider their UA Nuala.

I'd suggest the Lord of the Feast. You can use the Argus' animus to give him a 360 degree LOS, then use his Raven to put him in the back arc of any of his models within range of the Raven. His rules let you put out 1 attack on every model within LOS and reach means that you can hit any model within 2". You can kill a bunch of his infantry, and if his warlock is in range then you can use the tokens you get from killing the infantry to put out a series of boosted attacks on his warlock, hopefully killing him.

I agree with Castiel, the Lord of the Feast is nice. Never played as Circle before, but I have gone against them as Khador, and that guy wrecked a lot of my infantry.

Well the champs have 8 boxes and are ARM 18 assuming he makes use of defensive line, can the lord of the feast kill them all off? I'm not being snippy, I've never faced him so I don't know how good he is

but cant you not see through other models? he has all his models base to base starting with the warlock in the middle and branching out (like they were DSing in 40k)

You can't see models thru models of equal or larger base size. And a Lord of the Feast ain't killing off a unit of Champs.

If you really want to be mean to the troll player get a gallows grove. If he's within 5" then he doesn't get a tough roll.

checked force book, it seems you're right. that's nice. too bad Spiny Growth can be cast on faction models only...

I'm not that familiar with Trollbloods, so I didn't know what their stats were. Would he have a shot at the Kriel Stone and bearers?

They tend to space out quite a bit, so you'd be hard pressed to kill them all.
