I've pretty much decided that I'm going to go with Cygnar.
I know I need to have two-three Warcasters since I intend to run 150-200 points. Currently I have none. I'm looking for suggestions up to and including returning some of the following stuff I've picked up in favor of other game units.
So far I have"
1x Stormblade Infantry
1x Storm Lord Infantry
1x Firefly Light Warjack
1x Sentinel Light Warjack
1x Heavy Warjack (Avenger/Centurion/Hammersmith)
1x Heavy Warjack (Cyclone/Defender/Ironclad)
1x Solo Captain Arlan Strangewayes
I know I'm wanting to do at least one colossal in addition, but I'm not sure which one yet. Do I need to keep what I have and build off of it, or do I need to exchange some stuff for a more homogenous selection?
Thanks.

wow, 150 pts are alot. leave alone 200. if you're new to the game I would suggest to play for quite some time at lower point counts.

Woah slow down there.
Just buy the battlebox set and get a feel for the game.
15, 35, and 50pt armies are pretty standard.
150-200 is really big.

Most of what you have there is pretty good, but I don't know what you mean by Storm Lord infantry. Do you mean storm guard infantry?
So, i take it you need to return a couple of things to buy some casters and what not? If so, I would replace your stormguard (if that's what you have) and one of your lights in order to get a couple of casters and the Stormblade Officer and Standard. For your casters, there are lots of good choices you can go for, but I'd recommend one of the Haleys (both are good), and perhaps Seige Brisbane. Then just try out a few small jack only games until you get the hang of everything.
With your multi-kit jacks, I seriously recommend looking into magnatising them so you can switch between types when you want - helps you get variety without having to buy a whole bunch more models.

Agreed. The game is a bit involved, and takes more time than you would think.
OP, heres another bit for you...when you see people talking about having XXX points of a WM army, they usually mean total collection, not really meant to be fielded at one time. For example, I have 80+ points of Cygnar, but its not intended organized to be fielded at once, its a pool to pull from for games up to 35 pts at a time. Maybe 50 or 60 if I wanted to run both Stormwalls at the same time.

woah 150-200 pt games? Biggest I have ever played was 50 and that felt massive
Also I suggest Nemo, he loves the electricity youre making, also pick up a pack of Storm Smiths
Either of the 3 Nemo works with what you have
Also Firefly is pretty much only used by Nemo 2 & 3

Yep, I don't know that I would want to play more than 50 points, I think you can do some unbound stuff at 100+ but man, that's like running a crazy Apocalypse game in 40k.
(now full disclosure, I have about 150-175 pts of Khador afraid to count it.....)

Thanks for suggestions ya'll. I suppose the points thing is a hard adjustment for me. It doesn't feel right to be talking about less than 500.
So... Drop off my Storm Guard and pick up a Stormblade Officer and Standard, and then look at picking up a Nemo or Brisbane or someone like them.
I'll do that little thing some time soon.
Thanks, ya'll.

A good way to look at it is 35pt game is about the equivalent of a 1500 pt 40k game (time and feel wise).
50pt is very much like a 2000-2500pt game.
In my experience anyway.

That's a pretty radical change. I'll have to see it in-game, I suppose.

Think about it this way. in a game of 40k your whole army moves, than shoots, than charges. WM/H every unit/solo/caster does its whole activation at one time, before moving onto the next thing. For example take a unit of Winter Guard Infantry, they can all move, all charge, some charge, some shoot ect... it feels much bigger because each piece is sorta kinda acting individually. That's why it "feels" so much bigger and IMHO why its a much more intrinsically challenging and complex game. And this is the biggest reason most people will tell you to start with the battle box to get a good feel for it.

It is a solid start. Your next decision should be which warcaster to add in. Most games are just one warcaster so the selection will effect everything else that goes into the army.
Otherwise I'd probably look at filling it out with some infantry and solos at this point. Gunmages, squire, JR warcaster, Black 13 all work well with the majority of the Cygnar casters. You will want the UA and maybe the WA for the stormblades.
I suggest magnetizing the warjack kits you got so you can mix it up to run any of the 3.
As for Colossal Cygnar only has one. the Stormwall. But it is the best one so there you go.

Few things. First off I'm all in favor of just jumping in the deep end and playing more than just Battlebox Games to start out. Battlebox Games will teach you the base mechanics of the game, but not much else. The strategies and skillset changes a TON when you go up in points and add even a single unit to the game such that those Battlebox Games won't help you much in the long run. One or two sure to learn those base mechanics, but I wouldn't worry about much more than that.
Secondly, you commented about deciding which Colossal to get. You don't have a choice. If you're playing Cygnar, then the only Colossal you can take is the Stormwall. Not that that's a bad thing, it's one of the two best of the pack.
