I've been playing with an ADL with a pretty stadard Infantry Platoon the last few games. I generally deploy my objectives behind or within easy reach of the ADL, and having been blobing the ISs with a commissar. Each IS has a HWT (either AC or LC depending on my opponent). I normally don't give the IS any meltas or plasmas, but they usually have a flamer.

My PCS is practically minimum cost, maybe kitted out with flamers.

My CCS is usually deployed nearby in a chimera, and they have 3-4 plasmas.

I'll also often have a meltavet squad nearby as well, but this unit is often upfield engaging armour or MCs.

My problem...

First up, the ADL is ridiculously good at absorbing enormous volumes of incoming fire, especially when combining Go To Ground and Get Back In The Fight. That's not a problem!

Where I've been coming unstuck is if/when my opponent finally gets past the ADL and assaults me. Basically I'm toast because I have no way to counter their CC. I know the answer to my problem is "don't let them get near you", but sometimes they do, and then I'm gonsky.

How do I stiffen my "ADL units" so I don't fold like a house of cards as soon as someone charges me - I'm looking to spend minimal points to give them some backbone.

Oklahoma City, Ok.

Speed bumps. An IS or 2, not blobbed. They are there to die. They get hit, die and then you blast the crap out of the opponent.

Do you run any tank in your list? I’ve had fair luck of running an LR Exterminator with Sponson Heavy Bolters which putts down a lot of fire at CC units getting close. Second would be to run a Punisher next to the line as well but it’s like you said, you are going to have to kill them at range and hopefully by the time they get to your ADL they should be down to half strength or worst so just the amount of attacks your blob squad will have should take them if they charge in.

The last thing you can do which few people will expect is when they think they are going to charge you the next turn, your blob piles over the ADL and assaults him instead. It’s crazy but when it works it’s a thing of beauty.

The best battle plans are the simplest. Just run forward and punch your enemy in the face.

Sorry, Che-Vito, but no dice. The Imperial Guard FAQ changed how camo-cloaks function. They now provide a +1 cover save to the model wearing it, rather than the stealth USR. While this does allow the two to stack, it does not allow a single camo cloak to benefit an entire platoon.

Take some allies or Ogryns as a countercharge unit. Maybe a few Chaos Termies in lower games with Kharn, in larger ones, maybe some Meganobs.

It's almost as though your IG can't move 6" away each turn. If someone's running at you, you don't need to sit there and wait, you have rapid fire weapons

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

I think I have the basic ideas clear:

1) Slow them down, then more dakka
2) Just more dakka
3) Run away and more dakka

A theme emerges

One suggestion was to added some CC-oriented units, but cost for this might be prohibitive.

Interestly, noone's advice spoke to idea of bumping the CCS, PCS, or IS personnel's CC wargear, and I guess the reason obvious.

Thanks to all for the ideas, and it looks like I need to find ways to pump out more dakka to avoid the problems I've been having.

Kitting out guard for cc will usually end in disappointment. I've had some luck with a Lord Commissar with a fist but he's fulfilling a different role to what you're looking for.
The best way to deal with being charged is to give your blob ATSKNF. You run, auto regroup and shoot again. SW are good for this.
