I can't seem to find where ... even though Beasts & Cav ignore dif - terrain, without assault grenades they're at Init 1 if they assault through d- terrain. IIRC, right?

I thought it was FAQ'd (remembering pages long nerd rage over the issue in YMDC). Where is that rule? Been through the RB a couple times and the RB FAQ ... I'm suffering from the usual, "I want to know where this rule is, but I can't find it because it is deliberately hiding from me until some other dude points it out."

Or reality gnomes. They hide rules (and other things) from me and then put them back when someone else has located the item I'm seeking. They're related to Underwear Gnomes for those who haven't heard of them before.

This is incorrect Beasts & Cav do not ignore dif - terrain, they are not slowed by it but that is not the same as ignoring it.

Page 22 tells you what happens to an assaulting unit that moves through DT. Beast and Cav rules are on Page 48

It is all quite clear.

This is covered on page 4 of the rulebook faq. The faq entry isn't specifically about beasts and cavalry, but any model that ignores difficult terrain.

Ya it says that they arent slowed by DT so if they charge you roll only 2 (not 3 and pick the lowest) their initative is stll 1 however

This.

Also, avoid using so many Ellipses. They aren't necessary, especially when asking a question.

If it was crystal clear GW wouldn't have had to FAQ it.

Not true.

They FAQ stuff that is clear because people misread it and ask the question.

They get enough people to misread and they put out an FaQ.

I'd disagree there DR.

You can't blame failing reading comprehension for the vast majority of the FAQs (frankly it's a little insulting to do so), when there is more than enough ambiguity and loose ruling in GWs writing to account for them all.

I am not blaming failing reading comprehension for the vast majority of the FAQ, just for the ones that are quite clear.

Like Difficult terrain and assaults with Beasts and Cav, as many people read 'are not slowed by DT' as They 'Ignore' DT, which is bad reading comprehension.

Note: I did not say 'they FAQ everything because people misread it and ask the question.'

There is a difference between that and what I said...

Yes as stated anything that doesn't have grenades will always strike at int 1 unless their wargear/special rules state they don't.

For example, wraiths go at int 1 when assaulting for this very reason. Beasts and cavalry are no exception.

Beasts and Cavalry will strike at Init1 if even 1 model has to go through any cover to charge an enemy unit; unless they have assault grenades or some other effect to nullify the penalty. And of course Beasts and Cavalry roll the usual 2D6" charge range even when charging through cover, and they can reroll 1 or both dice for that due to Fleet.

Congratulations, you killed the straw man!

It was not a straw man, it was him misunderstanding what I was saying.
