Hi warbosses.

So 5 of my friends and I have decided to try 40k. We have a mixed group of necrons, tau, blood angels, tyranids and chaos marines. I of course went for orks.

We've all started small 5-800 pt games but want to build much higher. Anyway I was wondering if you could take a look at an army I am hoping to make, I like the mad doks style but am fairly flexible as l'm still buying and painting a number of these models.

HQ: Mad Doc Grotsnik

Elite: 10 lootas (cybork) 5 kommandos, snikrot (cybork) and 5 meganobs (cybork)

Transport: Trukk (red and carrying meganobs with MDG)

Troops: 18 shoota boyz (+2 with big shoots and a nob with Pk and pole) Another 18 shoots boyz (+2 boyz with big shootas and a nob with Pk and boss pole.)

Fast attack: 5 stormboyz (cybork) and 3 deffkoptas (cybork and twin linked big shootas.)

Heavy support: 3 BG kannons, 3 kills kans (grotzookas)

Total 1517 - so I at least need to lose 17 points somewhere. Thanks for reading and for any comments.

Well as for a starter, No no no! to big of a variation and to much cybork bodies we orks we dun work dat way! We work in numbas! at a low point game like diz yuu want as many boyz yuu can get! + the 10 lootas, but skipping the cybork parts you got 150 points you could spend on more boyz! what i would do for your list is skipping the kommandos with snikrot mainly because 1, Due the sixth eddition rules they aint worth it anymore no longer avaible to assault from reserve.
2. you have rather few to make them effective they should had atleast two burnas when taking them. But i strongely advise not to take em.

The meganobz seems like a killer doesnt it? but we are speaking of a 1500game and you have rather few models on your table as a ork player!

Stormboyz looks like a fun unit but never ever work in small numbers, they gonna need boss zagstrukk and be atleast 15 big.

Killa kanz kinda the same as the Kommandos, sixth eddition struck again, two hull points each and only armor 11 front they are easily glanced to death.

What my tip is get more kannons / boyz and lootas and you'd be good!

As for the HQ choise with what i said above, a big mek with KFF would be better.

Now as for your list if you want to stil use it... skip the cybork bodies on the lootas 50p and get some ammo runts / gretchin's for that kannon team you want more T7 wounds.

I would decide on an overall tactic. You're kinda all over the place. Some heavy hitters, one trukk, some shooting, some walking ...you need to pick a speed and go with it. Either all walking, all riding in 'wagons, or all fast with trukks and bikes. Don't mix and match your speeds, or your army will splash off of your opponent wave after wave. You need everything to hit at once.

If you're deadset on using the Mad Doc, the only place where his upgrade is really worth it is with Meganobz. But even there, taking a Warboss would make that same squad troops instead, which is even better than the cybork ...and it's free.

So if I were you, I'd first pick a speed (Fast w/ Trukks + Bikes; Rolling in 'wagons; or Slow, footslogging up the board). After that, I'd decide on a specific strategy.

Okay that all makes sense. I think I was ambitious and wanted to keep too many different interesting units with the cybork theme. Just making it confused and unfocused.

I have revised my list, although I would ideally like to keep the dok and meganobs in line with my original theme at least until I have played with them a little.

Mad dok.

Elites: 5 meganobs (cybork) in red trukk. 10 lootas, 10 lootas.

Troops: 2 units of 26 shoota boyz (+3 big shoota boyz and nob Pk/bpole)

Fast attack: 3 deffcoptas (cybork/twin linked big shootas)

Heavy support: 6 Kannons (6 extra gretchins and 6 ammo runts)

Does this sound closer to a workable army? Thanks again for advice.

It could work risky rocketing that trukk 26 inches first turn then move seven next if you survive, and jump out and chaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge FER DA WAAAAAAAAAAGH!

I think this list seems abit more proppah and should be fun. Yuu got a heavy hitter tons of dakkas and i'd advice yeh to take those deffkoptas in reserve so you can outflank.

Mad doks pretty risky to run with the MANZ. Since he's got to close in on the nearest unit, even if he's in a trukk the opponent can pretty much choose what they'll be going after.

I'd agree with taking the KFF mek. Putting him with the MANZ you get the 5+ cover so in effect the same as the cybork body at range. Then in melee, how often do you need the 5++, not a huge amount of ap2 melee stuff and its all unwieldy.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

Mad Dok ..Love the idea ..however When I run him its with either a group of Tank busters or Burna Boyz (with 3 meks+KMB) in a Wagon (makes for an interesting time)
I have also used him to Tarpit Monstrous by Dropping him in a pile of 30 grotz 3 Rh + GP ..
