I need a bit of help.

I want to field a death company and a dreadnought, but generally, you can only field 0-1 death companies.

Do I have to field Astorath to have a 10 man death company and a death company dread?

No, the only restriction on the DC dread is that you have to have 5 DC marines per DC dread. Astorath is only required to field multiple units of DC marines.

The Death Company are a 0-1 choice.

Does the Death Company Dreadnought have this restriction?

There are no limitations to the DC Dreadnought other than you have to take 5 DC marines for 1 Dread.
So 1 Troop choice of 25 DC marines allows you to take 5 Dreadnoughts.
Astorath takes away the 0-1 limit for DC units, so with him you can field as many Death Company as your FOC allows.

You'd need a 2nd HQ to make this legal. I suggest a Reclusiarch.

That would work, then just either storm ravens full of terminators with Sang priests or vanguard vetrans.

I don't believe terminators can go in SR's.

Storm Ravens can carry terminators just fine. They take two slots, like jump infantry.

Do you need the Astorath HQ to do this? Doesn't each FOC get 0-1 Death Company?

Not sure, I think it said army in the book but I don't have it to hand.

Can't call it either way, as the wording for the restriction is "in your army". Army isn't a defined term - while it might seem in this case as though it means all your detachments, there are other more obscure differences that need FAQing (for instance, the Emperors Champion being mandatory as an ally).

Per army means 1 for both FOC of a double force org. Just like a special character is 1 per army. You could not take 2 dantes for example in a single list, no matter how many FOCs you have.
