So I was looking at some SM's that had decals put on their shoulders. All of them were on the shoulders and wrinkled to some extent. I inquired about this and was told this was because the Decals were flat and the Marines shoulderpads were curved.

Does anyone know of a way to get around this problem?

Cheers.

Smooth them out, they can be set flat quite easy.

try using Micro Set and Micro Sol for decals especially the latter softens decals up and allows them to settle on curved surfaces

Apply Microsol to the decals after application on the model.
After this, apply micro set to reset the decal.

Microsol allows the film to conform to the compound curve of a pauldron, and the setting solution will lock it that way.

It's pretty much what model makers have used for the last 30 or so years.

I just put a tiny cut in the decal and it bends nicely on the shoulder pad.I have heard good things about Micro sol.
