I am new to 40k and I have been working on building an Ork army. I ran into a few things in the codex that I don’t understand.

If a Big Mek takes mega-armour do they still have the option to pick between a choppa, burna, & power klaw?
If a Big Mek takes a Shokk attack gun does he still get a choppa?
If a Big Mek takes a Kustom force field does he still get his shoota and choppa options? This piece of gear seems like it would be a back pack.
If a big Mek takes a Warbike does he still get a choppa option?

My confusion is from the Codex breaking out the war gear from weapon options and titling both sections “replace slugga with one of the following”

In the Casualty section of a Blood Bowl dugout

1) Nope. Mega Armour automatically gives the user, along with the 2+ save, a twin linked shoota and a Power Klaw.

2) Yes. The Shock Attack Gun replaces the slugga/shoota. You still keep the choppa, so can replace that with Burna/PK if you want

3) Again, the KFF replaces the slugga/shoota. Which is, admittedly, a bit weird since, as you say, the model's KFF is a backpack. You still keep the choppa though so, again, you can replace it with a Burna/PK

4) Yes, once again, the Warbike replaces the slugga/shoota. You still get the choppa, so c- bah, you should know the drill by now.

1. Taking mega armor for any but nobz does not allow you to take burna choppa powerklaw it's replaced by a Twinlinked shoota and a powerklaw wich is inbuilt in your mega armor.

2. Taking the shock attack gun you get to choose either - choppa - power klaw as a Close combat weapon, (choppa is the best for him tough as it's cheapest)

3.Taking a Kustomforce field he can either take, Burna - powerklaw. If you read the entry it says replaces slugga.

4. as said previous times.

If it says to replace the Slugga, then you lose the Slugga only. If it says to replace both Slugga and Choppa, you lose both.

Where does it say this? The Mega Armour replaces the Slugga so you would still have the Choppa.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Right, you replace the slugga with Mega Armour. Mega Armour comes with a twin-linked shoota and power klaw. You still have a Choppa you can do whatever with (by which I mean keep it or trade it for a Burna or a second Power Klaw).

Actually the Big Mek would get an additional attack for 2 specialist weapons.

Boss = 4 attacks base

Megamek = 3 attacks base + 1 for dual PKs.

So who cares? He is still inferior in every possible way to the megaboss for the same points. He is a crappy 'typo' which is too worthless to FAQ.

With the power weapon Nerf there is even less reason to entertain him for anything more than a modeling project. Even in a double force org he has no place as there are simply much better HQs to take. Megaboss, Bikerboss, Ghaz, Mad Dok, Wazdakka, KFF Mek, SAG mek, Biker Mek all serve better purposes and point values than a Megaburnamek, and he is more useful (but barley) than a Megadoubleklawmek.

The way I always thought about it was that the KFF is always on, and it takes skill and timing to turn it off temporarily while his Boyz are firing, and then turn it back on.

To OP, in 4th and 5th, KFF Mek was auto include and I modeled mine with a Burna. He did his job well but now sits in the box so Grotsnik gets his turn.

I figure he has to fiddle with gubbins to keep it operating, so he needs a free hand. I gave mine a little control unit (made from an orked up auspex scanner) in his off hand.
