I wasn't a fan of the new Mutilator figures, and couldn't find acceptable alternatives in other ranges.

So I've decided to give Warhammer Ogres a go, with head swaps from the Daemon Prince box, and belly plates using Chaos Marauder shields. Had to do the same for the Oblits as well, otherwise they wouldn't tie together.

What do you guys think?

To be honest i don't like then as oblits/mutilators. They just look like fantasy chaos ogres with weird heads. Especially the obliterator guns just don't fit into 40k like they are now.

I have no problem with using ogres as base but they are lacking as 40k model like they are now.
If you want to go with those orges this is what i would do.

Tech them up. Add some additional armorplates and cables coming out of their skin. And attach some of those cables to their weapons in addition with some techy looking bits to avoid the fantasy look and feel.

Additionally i'd strap some more weapons to them. Either mutating/sticking out of their bodies or strap them onto their backs in a large pile to represent the ability to swap weapons of the oblits and mutilators.

Or if you still looking for alternative models and have some money to spare. HiTech miniatures makes some alternative obliterator and mutilaor models.

Those are the boxed sets but you can also get the models seperately.

Thanks for the input!

I agree they aren't teched up for sci fi, but i'm hoping to tie them with the rest of the army via the paint job, painting their skin the same as the cultists and helmetless fellas.

Also I was considering those Hitech minis, but I want two squads of Oblits and Mutes each without doubling up. Not to mention the price is a bit steep

I think adding chaos terminator shoulder pads would go a long way to armor them up a bit. Also tie them back to their original model a bit.

As for the guns, I would look into maybe making a multibarrel gun that would have some wysiwyg parts like a multimelta, plasmakannon, lascannon all combined into one. Not so much digging the random cannon that belches whatever it wants.

I think it is a good idea for a cultist heavy army.

Well, I have a lot of spare special weapons, not sure how they'd all fit together though without looking like those pens with 4 different ink sections. Although that does sound very chaos. Will definitely take on the Termi shoulder pad idea, they need something to justify the 2+

Funnily enough the plan is to run them with cultists, to help make up the points

Not sure about Obliterators but I think I am going to have to nick that idea of using the Daemon Prince heads when or if I do Maneaters for my Ogre Kingdoms army!

That looks awesome and I am sure I have some kicking around.
