So was thinking of spamming 1-2 units of 20 chaos furies of slaanesh for my daemon army in 40k, but the actual furies models are so damn expencive. Anyone know a good and cheap alternative for them?

I would love to use the dark elf harpies for this, as they are so slaaneshi, but they are even more expencive =/

Actually i had an idea for the furies. How about using tyranid gargoyle wings and bodies, but replacing the heads and hands with daemonette spare parts? That would only cost less than half of what the official harpy models would cost.

How about some avatars of war harpies?

They are somewhat cheaper than the GW ones and better posed.

Those look darn good, but still they are too expencive though... making the furies out of nid gargoyles and my tons of spare daemonette parts is still cheaper.

If you have the spare bits then yes they are cheaper. But if you need to get the whole kits it isn't. Kitbashing daemonettes with gargoyles will give you 10 models (and a bunch of spare bits) for 46 € while those harpies are 10 for 37 €

I have loads of spare heads and claws from 2 boxes of daemonettes and 1 box of seekers and planning on getting more daemonettes in the future, so the spare parts won't cost me practically any more. I get 20 gargoyles for 46€ and will propably have enough spare bits to convert them all into furies...

Have you thought about using wood elf dryads with gargoyle wings? not sure if it'd look good. the uber expensive way would to use the plague drone kit [wonderful insect wings], & mount them on daemonettes. another option would be gargoyle wings on vc ghouls.

This is what I am using. Not exactly cheap but certainly a very Slaanesh option. Also very time consuming unless you want to keep the original arms (which I didn't)

Wow, those look awesome! But are listed as out of stock (like many "warcast" items, since that casting method didn't work out too well for mass production apparently).

Chaos furies are described as being fleeting, barely-sentient daemons without their own way to get into real space and tenuous bodies that reflect the nearest chaos god. I wouldn't even use the ugly GW models as a reference, those things are ancient. Nothing says you have to give furies big bat wings, flamers and screamers are similar fast units and they do just fine without wings.

You could do literally anything with furies, more so than even the other daemons, as they have no fixed idea of what they're supposed to resemble. Big blobs of floating matter, bundles of claws and tentacles, whatever. Personally, I'd look around for models of ghosts, spirits, spectres and phantoms. Plenty of companies put out generic models for those sorts of things on the cheap.

Reaper Bones for instance.

Could try Mantic's recent Gargoyle models from their KoW kickstarter. Let me see if they have the models for sale or pre-order yet and I'll edit my post with info.

edit-They aren't up for pre-order yet, but when they do come up, you might find they're what you're looking for. If time is a factor though, they won't help.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
