So i am fairly new to 40k and i think i may have made a mistake, i recently purchased a forge world iron clad dreadnought off ebay that was really neat looking and thought it would go great in my dark angels army. After doing some reading after i got it i realized that I may not be able to use it in my dark angels list. Can someone clarify that for me?
And if it matters here is details on the dreadnaught
http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARHAMMER-40k-FORGE-WORLD-MKIV-IRON-CLAD-DREADNOUGHT-/330896078964?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=NvtIqvxILls1kguUGfWbOUt%252Bj4w%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Thanks for taking the time to educate me!

Read your codex, Ironclads arn't in there.
You could use the model, but it wouldn't be an Ironclad ruleswise.

You can use any model to count as another model, and provided it is around the same size, has the same guns and on the same base as the model you are trying to represent, 99% of people won't have a problem.
If you really want to use it in your army, you can always ally with vanilla marines and run their actual ironclads.

If your name is "Deathreaper" that clearly means it's both an Ironclad and a regular Dreadnaught! *laughs* (Just poking fun Death :-) )

Maybe, but if it is it is one of the best looking recasts that I have seen. Automatically Appended Next Post: You can always ally with a C: SM chapter and include the Ironclad that way.

Do you have a codex yet? The codex lists exactly which models you can include in an army. The Ironclad is not one of them. (of course, you can add allies from another codex - the main rule books details the limitations on including allies and you'll find the ironclad in codex Space Marines).
Now, assuming you aren't using allies then technically there is no way to use an ironclad model.
However, an iron-clad is not going to be mistaken for an iron-clad since you can't have those in a dark angels army so using it as a normal dread is pretty drama-free. Just make sure that you arm it with weapons that a normal dread is allowed to have (no hurricane bolters, etc) and make sure to remind your opponent that it's not an ironclad just in case they don't know that dark angels can't get them.

Yeah, I use that model in my Space Wolves army as a regular Dreadnought (It was a Venerable Dread last edition, but Ven Dreads suck now... :( ) with no problems.

If he is a recast I wonder why he does a better job than they do - so clean. He either is a awesome re-caster or he cleans them up.

Probably cleans them up, that little bit of effort can be a decent disguise to your recasting.

Nice Strawman... That has nothing to do with anything as you do not know my stance on this. It is a little insulting that you presume to know what I would say.
