Subject: Aun'Va - the Space Pope

Two questions about the Space Pope in the new Tau codex, interested in peoples' thoughts both RAW and RAI:
1. Can Aun'Va and his bodyguards join a unit (e.g. firewarriors)? Or does Aun'Va first have to leave his unit (i.e. himself and the bodyguards) before he can join a new unit?
2. Does the Paradox of Duality confer an additional save, or is it just another save? So, if Aun'Va is in a unit of firewarriors, has given the unit FNP 6+ and they're shot at by bolters, will the unit get three rolls to avoid the wound (regular armour save 4+, Paradox of Duality 5+, FNP 6+) or just two (best save 4+, FNP 6+)?

1. No, He doesn't have IC rules. ICs can join him
2. Treat it like another FNP, but more awesome. I would lean to getting both FNP and POD.

1. No. Do you see "Independent Character" anywhere in his rules?
2. It's not a save, so it will stack in exactly the same way as FNP. Except being as it's not FNP it will stack with that as well.

Example: Pope is behind an Aegis and uses his pope powers to give FNP to himself.
Heavy Bolter is shot at Pope. Pope goes to ground.
Pope would get a 2+ cover save. Then a 6+ FNP. Then a 4+ I'mTheDamnPope save.

Not that I suppose it matters really, but...we aren't told whether FNP or MagicPopeSave comes first. Therefore, wouldn't you get to choose which comes first?

FNP isn't a save, its a test after failing a save. Don't have the new book but from what I can gather so is MagicPope Test. So yeah, you'd get both in any order the controlling player wants.

Pretty much. I've just double-checked - Aunva's Paradox of Duality isn't called a test, but it might as well be one. The exact wording is like FNP's, that is, you roll for it when Aun'va "suffers an unsaved Wound".
