Which Varnish do I use before I put on a wash for a model to get it to only go to the recesses better? I saw a video on this before about how it helps and I've done it before but I forgot which varnish to use...anyone know?

Gloss. Gloss gives you the smooth low flow resistant surface to wash over, best i know satin works also but last i tryed satin it retained a lot of wash on smooth surfaces, which i quite liked, gave a dirty, oily look.

Gloss. The more matte the finish, the more tooth (texture for paint to grip) it has, so a smooth gloss coat will have your washes running for the recesses as much as they ever will. Satin will behave more like a very smooth coat of paint, having a relatively low, but still present, tooth.
