So my color scheme for my tau dates back to when I was married and my sons egg donor wanted pink tau. So I made some. They came out okay, but nothing special unless played by a girl. I decided to keep the pink in there, but wanted them to look a little less "robotech girl pilot". I shamelessly stole the grid pattern idea from another poster here.

So here are a few shots at my WIP prototype for the vehicle paint jobs. I need a new airbrush so please forgive the sputtering. The final models won't have that (when I get a new airbrush). I think the undercoat needs to be a pearl grey instead of white, but other than that I'm not totally disappointed. Thoughts?

I like the grid pattern. Really spiffy.
My trouble with this model is the pink. I like the pink and think it would suit this theme well but i think you've put the pink on the wrong areas. Theres too little of it on the model and it makes it look like you've taken the pink and just tacked it on.

I don't disagree. I think I killed too much of it. I will probably go back and airbrush a translucent pink over some of the grid areas and see how that plays out.

try to make the mesh part glossy. and keep the pink part clean (just pink). otherwise im in love with it lol

What did you use for the grid? Is it that stuff you put under your carpet so it doesn't slide?

Love the carbon fibre effect. Love the minimal pink also. They look like a real faction and not comedy tau. Though I'm pretty sure a more vibrant and pink color scheme could be pulled off well without looking like a joke.

I think it should be White mainly, with pink trim, a blue energy more like the front of the negine than the back ( looks like too much to me) and black grids.

I think there is too much blue if you keep it how it is.

Also, isn't the other pilot missing???

I too would be very interested to know what was used as a stencil for this pattern?

the stencil took an entire day of going around town looking for something. I finally gave up, and as I was leaving target, there were these kids toy fishing nets for $1 a piece by the front door. the net just happens to be in a hex pattern. I bought 3 of them, and they work great for the stencil.
