i am startign to build my Tomb Stalker (bought it abotu 2 years ago so about time!).

My intention was to paint up all the sections, drill them through and then thread onto some wire to make it easier to pose before glueing.

i have managed to drill a hole through the middle of each sction using a dremmel adn a 1mm drill bit but i now need to source the wire.

I've had a look on ebay and have foudn this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SILVER-PLATED-Beading-WIRE-4-to-20-Metres-0-4mm-0-5mm-0-6mm-0-8mm-1mm-/170909947788?pt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&var=&hash=item27cb06d78c#ht_2186wt_758

Has anybody done this before? And if so does wire look like it is ok? it doesn't really need to be very weight bearing as once i have decided on a pose i will be using Loctite gel superglue to stick it all together.

Thats what i would use tbh. And seeing the model in the flesh it defiantly needs pinning lol

Thanks, for less than £2 it's worth getting either way i think.

You think 1mm would be too thick?

If your useing a 1mm drill bit i would use the 0.8 so its easy to thread.

Good point - ordered.

Got the body and leg sections painted up now.

Spoiler:

- just waiting for the wire to arrive and i can start work on the base (hoping to have a wrecked land speeder for the Stalker climb over. If i can find the bits i'll also have an injured marine pinned to the ground by one of the stalkers legs as well.

I've got a broken speeder that a dude at my local club gave me - the pilot and passenger are broken out with just their legs left. And i have a few spare torsos and arms and stuff. but thanks for the offer!

It all depends on how i can cut down the speeder to mount it on the base - just sitting it on there it takes up too uch of the base. i'm going to have to cutit at an angle and try to make it look likes it's crahsed and half buried itself in the sand. i have lots of grand ideas and a picture in my head of how it should look- just not sure if i have the skill to translate them into reality - time will tell.

Quick update:

Wire arrived and worked a treat - threaded through the 1mm holes with ease and makes the whole model nicely poseable without falling apart.

I've glued the head and tail sections in place so the model is assembled but still poseable.

Still got the legs to assemble and glue in place.

And a test-pose over the wrecked Land Speeder im hoping to use.

Just a thought, but you may want to curl in the tail end a bit, so the speeder doesn't just come across as an afterthought.

Things I've gotten other players to admit...

Thats the plan. The body is threaded along some wire so it is still fairly moveable and can still be curved round.

This was just a test to see if the Speeder was too big or not.

Another update - painted and assembled the base and have started attaching the legs to the damn thing. The legs are proving to be the most difficult part as i want them to be posed to show it is climbing over the speeder.

Unfortunately this means attaching a leg - test posing the model - adjusting that one leg and then waiting for the glue to dry before moving on......it has 18 legs. Kind of makes me regret going for the "climbing over wreckage" pose.

Spoiler:

I know that a DA speeder would be Ravenwing, strictly speaking - but i wanted a dark green scheme for the base and this was the only one I had all the paints for.

Test-pose. Still missing a few legs and the model is not secured to the base yet. The end result will, hopefully, have it rearing up a little higher than this at the front.
