If a unit has multiple initiative values and chooses to Hit and Run, do you use majority initiative, or the highest? I can't find anything in the BRB supporting using the highest initiative so have always played it as majority.

Well, the unit has Hit & Run if one model has it. Then for Characteristic Tests, there is the following:

"MODELS WITH MULTIPLE PROFILES
Where a model has more than one value for the same
characteristic,a characteristic test is always taken against the
highest of the values."

I saw that too, but took it to mean it's done on a model by model basis...not for the entire unit. Would like it if this were true. The "model" in that rule is what throws me off and makes me unsure.

I would say you use the highest value as thats how all the other things based off Inititive work IIRC. I could be wrong but I think thats how it works.

Well, what makes more sense 10+ initiative tests or 1 for the highest?

Well it could also be 1 test with the lowest value. After all, if the slowest guy can't escape then nobody can.

Probably could use an FAQ, I could see GW going either way.

I think you would use the highest, in the same fashion as you would use the highest Ld to determine a moral check.

I say you use the highest, just like sweeping advance. The fastest guy shows everyone where to go.

H&R says, "If the UNIT wishes to [leave combat], it must take an Initiative test."

I think it would be highest Initiative, since you use the unit's highest Initiative when testing for Sweeping Advance (p26). They are both a unit trying to leave combat.

What Pretre said earlier doesn't make sense, since this is about a unit with different Initiatives, not about a single model with several different printed values.

H&R states that the unit takes an Initiative test. That's one test; one roll.

The rules for Characteristic Tests on page 7 specifically state that if a whole unit is testing, you use the highest value in the unit.
