I am using a unit of 20 WoC in an army with the Mark of Nurgle and they will be equipped with Halbreds.

However, I thought it would be a much better idea to give them Scythes, since it seems SO much more "Nurgley" but where in the blue hell would I find enough scythes for them? I cannot find anything like that on any conversion part website!

The Zombie box has a scythe on each sprue, If you can get a couple of those you could probably press-mold more out of green stuff. Hormagaunt scything talons may also be of use to make scythe heads. Failing that a bit of plasticard is an option.

One option would be to forge your own blades. Take a long triangle-ish shape or plasticard, and carve it to look scythe like. Being that you are Nurgle, a little rot, rust, and decay will cover most modeling mistakes.

The hard part would be to find something to mount them on. When I made a scythe for a mounted wraith way back when, I was using a mini with a spear as the base, so it was an easy weapon head swap. The chosen look to have halberds, so that might work. I'm not that familiar with the modern chaos line unfortunately.

When I went to grab a picture, I noted that I had carved the blade using an old metal bit of sprue, not plastic. Shouldn't matter much. A skull from somewhere and greenstuff finished the blade. The base model is an old DE dark rider with his face dremmeled out to make an empty hood. Not the best picture, sorry.

I used the plasticard method for these scythe-type blades on an infested Guardsman I used for basing. I glued the plastic blade to a bit of paperclip to form an armature then covered it in GS for a textured limb-thingy. It should be easy to attach such a thing to a plastic halberd shaft, expecially if you just clip off the head(s) and replace with the scythe blade.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
