Hey all,

Quick question here: I see that the DA fliers get slammed a lot online for not being good. Why is that? I get the impression that their weaponry is actually pretty potent, and remember some moaning from Ork/Nid players about the stasis cannon before the codex came out, but it now seems to be regarded as the pinnacle of poor rules.

As far as i am concerned the biggest problem of our fliers is their price. Usually people say it´s worth the tax to get an IG Vendetta instead.

Points is the main thing. Its balanced for a 6th ed book (besides the hellturky). Its just what you could get with a 5th ed book IE vendetta, storm raven, necron cheese or any other spam flyer. The 5th ed flyers are just cheaper and a better bang for the buck.

I play dark angles deathwing and and looking at running a storm talon because i dont want to pay the price for the model and the points for it. also remember with the new FAQ the fighter doesnt have missile lock anymore.

The Dark Talon is garbage, full stop. Bad main gun, bad bomb, in the end it's a flying Hurricane Bolter. With no hyperbole intended, it's easily one of the worst units in 40k. On to the Nephilim, it's a little overpriced, but mostly the problem is that its weapons load-out is poorly planned. One Lascannon, even twin-linked, isn't going to reliably break open vehicles. The Heavy Bolter is a pea-shooter, and both the Blacksword Missiles and the Avenger Bolter are saddled with AP4, which render them all but useless against all of the MEQ armies out there. 40k tends to reward units that are highly specialized, and the armaments of the Nephilim are either too scattered (a tank busting main gun backed up by middling anti-infantry fire) or too ineffective (a lot of middling anti-infantry fire) to justify its use.

That said, I run two Nephilims just because I bought the models, and want to get my money's worth out of them.

Both fliers can't effectively kill other fliers, which is why people take fliers, to kill other fliers.

Cheers for the information guys. I guess that for all its flaws, the Dakkajet is actually quite affordable.
