Hey guys,
I'm trying to find some scenery for a board I'm making, I'm looking to make a city based board so am looking for buildings, ruins etc. but would like to try and get away from GW items if possible.
Can you recommend anywhere to get some bits from?
lots of love

Pegasus offer a range of suitable ruins.
You can also make some pretty nice stuff just from foamcore and plasticard.

Gale Force 9 (now owned by Battlefront Miniatures AKA Flames of War) makes a nice set of prepainted ruins.
They are very solid (and a bit heavy) as if they are made of dental plaster.

They are not low cost though.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.
I build IG...lots and lots of IG. |

+1 for pegasus miniatures, lovely stuff.
Also if you are considering a specific board for this check out http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1084069684/tablescapes-by-secret-weapon-miniatures/posts
They have urban theme for their next stretch goal which looks promising.

I've seen the Pegasus stuff myself. I honestly like it as much as the GW terrain, if not a bit better.

I like Armorcast's resin ruined buildings, I have tons of them. It's nice to not have buildings that scream "Grimdark Gothic!!!!" all the time.

Gamecraft miniatures also offers a pretty decent line of structures in 28mm. Most are more modern, but I recommend having a look. Its reasonably priced as well.
ETA: They recently started their "Tomorrow's War" line, it has a lot of cool structures that are more "colony" like, if you're into that. I recommend their products, I have bought a few MDF structures from them in 20mm, and the quality was great for the price.
